Hey all, I recently built a convenient Wii turned emulator box for a friend, and found that only official Nintendo controllers work with the home-brew channel.
These and the 'classic controller' official versions are getting quite hard to find. Are there any other solutions? I managed to wrangle two for each of us but if I wanted more, what are my options?

Clearly there isn't another option, you can either.
A. Make do with what you got
B. Suck it up and pay what people are asking online.
C. Swap out the Wii for another emulation box like a Pi or Odroid

I wasn't sure if maybe I was missing something. For single and two player we are set, and four player we can borrow from each other, but it would be nice to have a back up plan.
What a shame. I heard GC controllers work, but those are kind of jank.

I see them for 12 bucks at Gamestop. Between 5-10 at flea markets.

I've been trying EB Games (Gamestop equivalent) and they are pretty rare to find.
I'll just keep an eye out.
I guess I was hoping there was some driver or software solution wasn't aware of.

I've never used a Wii for emulating but there are generic classic controllers online. Also thought GameCube controllers were suppose to work.
It's hard to beat the classic and pro controllers. Nearly all emulators on Wii work with the GameCube ports, too. If the GameCube controller isn't your thing, get some good repro NES or SNES controllers and GC adapters.

Ah, see that's the thing. I bought some good quality generic classic controllers online and found that the Home Brew channel only works with 'Official' Nintendo controllers, hence my dilemma!
The GameCube controllers should work too, but I hate the design for classic games.

This is an interesting idea, I was actually wondering if someone made a knock off GameCube controller that looked more like a traditional controller, but this might also work.
Really appreciate the help here guys. I'll keep an ear to the ground for any more, but I probably don't even need them right now since between my friend and I we have four available.

I just modded my Wii and haven't tried any 3rd party controllers but Holy Shit I haven't played Smash bros since 2004 and I popped in my old memory card and checked our records and we had 161 hours played.

I think you're looking for this
My favourite controller I want to marry it.
>>3773281
Hahaha good luck finding one of them for a reasonable price!
>>3773338
I mean it's exactly what you're asking for. Whether you have the money for it is another question altogether.
Can't you get new jap ones on amazon?
>>3773349
OP here, that's actually not great for me, still has that bizarre button layout that only GC ever used.
But thank you for finding it
>>3773424
Oh haven't tried yet, I might take a look. I never used Amazon much living in Australia.

I use an GC to PS2 adapter, works very excellently

wtf hasn't this occurred to me before. Does running through the GCN ports reduce input lag?
