IT'S A NEW LAP RECORD
>>3769806
Noooooooooo!
>>3769845
KABOOM!
Ahahaha!
>>3769806
i love this game so much, Dreamcast version changed my life after playing N64 for so long.
>>3769851
Neva Kee for life
>>3769853
I wish the PC version works again.
>>3769873
at least we can say tim schafer sabotaged one version. PC doesn't matter tho, irrelevant platform.
>>3769879
What does relevancy have to do with it? The PC version is obviously the best version.
>>3769873
It does work, I played it on Windows 7
>>3769892
Link to the .exe, or how to do it?
>>3769907
I don't want to upload anything but these should help you get there. The exe is a "graphics patch" which I guess is just a modern patch.
>>3769914
Thanks!
>>3769884
"obviously" If its so obvious why does it only work on windows 98?
>>3769985
There's no way you typed that with a straight face without reading the few posts right above you
>>3769990
>There's no way
You'd be surprised by some of the people on this board, anon.
>>3769994
Seriously.
I don't even know why I still come here sometimes.
>>3769806
> N64 version on emulator
> Quality is low, controls are meh, 2 player mod is a total mod
> Invite best friend, crash on all the walls cause 2 player is hell
> Have a lot of fun like when we were kids playong multi face to face
> I still play this game solo
"You cannot beat Sebulba!
He always wins! Hehehehehe!
I am betting heavily on Sebulba!"
>>3769914
I tried so hard to get this shit to work. Patches on vogons, dgvoodoo, nothing works.
>>3769806
Used to like this as a kid.
Doesn't run well on my retropie machine though.
Most N64 games don't.
>>3770623
Have you seen my chance cube?
I'm like 4th fastest in the world on tatooine
People come here, they look around, they no buy...
Why nobody buy?
>>3770639
I got it too work myself some time ago, but the day after it wouldn't start for some reason. This is the one I used
https://bitsnoop.com/star-wars-episod-1-racer-1999-pc-ri-q19943095.html
>>3770642
>he uses a pi
>>3770642
N64 games work fine on my Pi3
If you use a Pi2 you might wanna overclock it and give it a shot, they're way outdated anyway
the alien that hums the cantina song is the best.
>>3769853
same here, in the Dreamcast version I can clear laps like nobody's business because of the higher FPS but the downside is that the tracks feel a lot shorter only because the performance between the two is black and white.
>>3770642
if the PC version was open we could port it to linux and it'd run just fine
>>3770642
sell your pi for a few 20 bucks and get a pi3
>>3770762
I'd say
>check the MSRP and compare that to your prices you cheap ass
>>3770935
>the alien
Watto, you philistine
>>3770762
How do they find me, they come here mess up my store!
>>3769873
read the description
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLizDzlAoEE
>>3771285
Followed it, installed it, and it keeps asking me for the CD when I'm trying to start the game
>>3771448
keep the .iso mounted in daemon tools
>>3771460
Is there no crack? I'd rather no mount it all the time
>>3771464
Why is that a big deal
>>3771478
Nevermind, tried it with mounting but it just crashes saying something about rdroid
>>3769806
>playing as Anakin
>his scream when you lose an engine and spiral into a wall
You can't even be mad that you fucked up, it's too funny
>>3771492
Onetime I was racing a friend and I was right behind him, trying to spring out infront, when I hit a wall too hard, blowing one of my engines up.
I managed to keep it in the air long enough to pass him, fly over the finish line, and promptly explode.
>>3771578
>winning the race with a spinning single-engine pod about to explode
>>3771578
That's why this game is sweet. The only similar thing I can think of is it still counting when your car-corpse crosses the finish line in F-Zero.
>>3771285
>racing through the sandcrawler
>3 times
real pod racer here
>>3769806
>>3769806
>EXPANSION PAK ENHANCED!
Too bad the framerate becomes dogshit.
>>3771769
which is why you play the pc version
wish i could get this to work on my little "don't call it a netbook" hp stream, but graphics are all fucked up, no textures etc - I hope whoever has done the updates and rereleases for rogue squadron and swgb etc will get to this eventually, this game is one of the best racing games of it's time and remains immensely fun even alone thanks to the progression of parts upgrades and challenging tracks, the sense of speed remains largely unparalelled in any other game ive played
>>3771769
No it doesn't. It ain't 60 but it holds about ~25 FPS stable except when you crash your pod. It looks pretty good too, the Dreamcast version doesn't appear any nicer looking at all except smoother.
>>3772142
Have you played 2 player on Sunken City?
It gets pretty choppy.
>>3772195
Never said 2 player wasn't choppy
I always liked the long courses in this game. Some of them felt like quite the adventure.
>>3769806
>IT'S A NEW LAP RECORD
I still say this.
Did anyone else ever suck at that cloud city level? It was in the higher tiers. I remember finding a way to fall all the level and re spawn like 1/3 of the track through.
Abyss was an insane but interesting level. Falling to the bottom part of that track near the beginning makes you take a much longer route, essentially being a guaranteed loss.
>>3771464
Just use this, the youtube fix is ancient.
https://www.letsplayforum.de/index.php/Thread/159414-Star-Wars-Episode-1-Racer-x86-x64-Setup-Fixes-und-Patches/?pageNo=1
This works for Win 7, 8, 10 and 32/64 bit. Lets you pick any resolution you want, fixes bugs, choose any sound/graphics options before launching, and has TCP/IP for netplay. It no-cd cracks the game too. If the game still won't launch set SWEP1RC_Res_Fix_CD.exe to windows 8 compatibility in properties.
>>3772426
Sweet!
>>3772254
the glitches in this game were half the fun once you stomped through the main game. It was comically easy to just blast through walls at high speed on certain tracks.
"EAT FUMES WORMO."
>>3774123
Don't know about anyone else but he looks bad ass here, could be like an Episode Racer X years later sequel. PUNISHED ANAKIN.
The difficulty of Abyss is exaggerated to hell and back. If you don't steer like a drunkard, i.e. don't fall to the lower level, you'll win every time.
Fire Mountain Rally and Grabvine Gateway will always be hard as shit, though.
I feel like I play this game like a retard so I ask, how do you guys use or manage your boosts? What's your rhythm?
>>3774464
I just max out my boosts on straightaways. I'm too chicken shit to use them anywhere else.
>>3774468
I like to boost whenever I want besides on corners, so I tend to push my heat to the brim almost all the time. When I want to boost again, it's still near the max and cooling takes absolutely forever. I can't tell if I'm not supposed to boosting this much. Should I max out cooling before anything else?
>>3774492
>Should I max out cooling before anything else?
If you boost a lot, yeah.
>>3770762
Ayyheeeee
>>3769879
Tim Schafer did what?
>>3774437
"Obi-Wan, I'm already a demon."
If you want to get technical, in Racer Revenge you could play as Vader, soooo wish granted?
>>3774791
Heh, thats pretty funny.
>>3774791
Gee, thanks guys, I'll put that up on the imaginary shelf next to ProJared's vaunted participation awards
>>3775243
It's real though

>>3771285
I need to play this game again, I actually felt relaxed for the first time in 8 years!
:0 ;) aaaaaahhhhhhJust a little though
hmmmmmm : D
>>3774791
This was in Shadows of the Empire too. Comes across pretty sarcastic with what we know of him now.
>>3775973
The worst Star Wars trilogy tried to warn us... and only now we are starting apologize
;_;
>>3769806
>>3775985MARRY ME OR SOMETHINGAnd then we can play this between proposing research grants and discussing annexing and terraforming you wounded anger slut.

I think I may be crazy (or a scrub), but I feel like after exhausting my entire boost meter, I get on the repair button instantly and it will actually cool down the heat meter. If I keep repair held down while racing normally, I think my heat meter is down by 80% after like 10 seconds. If I don't hold repair after using up my boost, the heat meter is still very high. Does repair actually cool down your heat? I can't find any documentation actually proving this.
Assuming this is true, do I buy cooling parts or repair parts to improve this? Remember I'm not talking about passively cooling down by itself.
>>3777068
can't you just use the brakes or something?
>>3769806
Did anyone ever use cheats to use two controllers? I remember doing that and using debug mode to do some fun stuff. I think this game was my first use of the Internet for cheats.
WHY NOBADY BUY
AEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>3772142
I used to think that was a slow motion effect until I found out about FPS from playing PC games.
>>3777531
I'm gonna do it on my next playthrough
>>3778754
>slow motion effect
It's called cinematic gaming
>>3777068
