Not really, I bought a 220i for €15.
buying a CD-i is never a good deal
>>

Don't know about where you live but here that would be a good deal too.
Just today a 450 sold for 68€ on my local ebay.
Cheapest buy now option for a working 450 is at 90€.

I used to work at a grocery store in my area that held on to their video game rentals (and yes you could still rent these games from them) in 2010 till I bought all of their games. There were 30 games total and they sold them to me for 40 bucks. In that lot there was Super Mario RPG, Castlevania IV, and Harvest Moon. I also got Star Fox 64, Mario Kart 64, Ape Escape, and Super Mario Kart. The owner said he didn't think anybody would have any interest in these things and didn't want me to overpay for them.
>>
>>3765539
Neat
>The owner said he didn't think anybody would have any interest in these

>>
>>3765539
Nice
I love ape escape
>>
>>3765540
I know! I asked him if he still had the boxes/manuals and he said he threw them out when he first got them. He told me he would go to the actual store and buy the games himself. Another spooky part was I used to rent games from that store and would get Kirby 64 all the time. I bought that game in the lot too and it still had my file on it almost 10 years ago.

>>3765543
I never played Ape Escape until I bought it there and its a pretty rad game. I'm glad I picked that up in the deal.
>>
>>3765554
>I used to rent games from that store and would get Kirby 64 all the time. I bought that game in the lot too and it still had my file on it almost 10 years ago
That is pretty great. Would have given me the nostalgia chills.
>he threw them out when he first got them
GameStop still does that to save space.

I never get good deals. I had to buy things at a slight discount after some time after release or overpay the market value in my area.

The closest to a "deal" is finding my SegaCD system in an alley. I think I burned up all my good karma on it, and now I am doomed to eBay prices + 10% or more for the rest of my remaining life on everything.
>>
>>3765562
And rightfully so the X'Eye is rare as hell I think there are only like 10k units.
>>
>>3765560
It's quite a shame really. I would of loved to had the box/manual to Castlevania IV. The unfortunate thing is he put the rental labels on the cover so get got torn off.

I got an old gray brick Gameboy for free at a flea market years ago. I was originally going to buy it for $5(still not bad) but this lady just swoops in and tells the guy "I'll buy your whole lot" and it kin dof sucked. I asked if she would spare the Gameboy and I got met with "you don't understand, my son loves this stuff and it's so hard to find" and that was it, she walked away with a box full of my happiness. about a half hour later though she comes up and asks if I still want it, and of course i did(there was a GB pocket in the collection, her son probably informed her that the purchase was redundant) so she just hands the brick to me and says "I'm sorry, I was rude, I don't need all of this"

I gave that game boy to my best friend, her's didn't work and she was kind of upset about it, so I had intended to buy it for her all along. the feels were pretty great, but my girlfriend was unhappy I was buying gifts for another girl.
>>
a fuggin forgotten green ps1 memcard comes within halflife for ps2
>>
I can not say it here, as it breaks the rules of the board.

But in 2007 i bought a console for $15 with one controller and one game. Console, controller and cables were in pristine condition. The game was scratched as fuck. Everything worked fine.

That game turned out to be the very best game i've ever played, to this day.

To make things even better, that moment in my life was my humble peak, and i didn't even knew it.

I unironically think that was the best investment I've ever made, on what in retrospect was the best period of my life. The closest to normalcy I've ever been.
>>
I got two AGS-101s for $6 because neither one would turn on. Both batteries were completely dead but I replaced them and they worked fine.

In 2011 I got two PS2s for free.
Working but looked like hell.
In 2004 I bough an XBox in the box with all cables and manuals + JSRD&Sega GT 2002 + a second 3rd party controller for 20€.
And some even newer stuff for cheap.

I also bought Ocarina of Time for 10€ in 2005 and got an N64 for free in 2001 from my dads work since nobody used it.
Without a controller though.

Got the MS in 2015 with all the cables and a controller + Master Games 1 for 6,50€
and the Mega Drive 1 for 1,50€.
In 2016 I got a Mega Drive 2 for 2€.
>>
>>3765898
Lucky you. Damn.
>>
>>3765530
They are relatively cheap to get a hold of, but the library is simply shit, and you are lucky to find a IR controller that works with the system.
>>
Not strictly speaking retro but I picked up Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection at Goodwill for $5 total. Had all three games too, I couldn't resist that sweet longbox MGS1.
>>
>>3765470
I got a ROB, all accessories, and Gyromite for $2, incuding shipping.

The vertical motor's gear came unglued, so the owner thought it was broken.
>>
>>3766053
>Goodwill
I wish we had something like this here. All those charity stores sell are clothes.
>>3766065
How can you even ship ROB for that cheap
>>
>>3766068
I dunno.
I got it back in like 2010.

Unfortunately, one of the microswitches in his base stopped working, so once again, I need to fix it.
>>
Picked up Jurassic Park OG for the Xbox at a flea market for $3. I've had a lot of scores but that has to be my best
>>
Between a few years ago a slim ps2 with 2 controllers, two sets of a/v cable and such for just 5 bucks at a good will.

Or last year found a genesis model 1 no cords, but just for 3 bucks :D Goodwill again
>>
>>3765898

I just got a GBA SP AGS-101 last week, but for $14 at goodwill, BARELY USED and battery works great! Think I'll give my regular gba sp a rest.

Nintendo 64 with just the power cord. 5 bucks
>>
>>3765470
I really like how the more consoleesque CD-I models look. How much did they cost back in the day because I can't find any figures?
>>
Man you are lucky for having goodwills

>The biggest news for Philips CD-i in 1994 was the introduction of the low-cost 450 player. A brand new design aimed at the modern and younger market. The 450 player was introduced in the US below the psychological price of 300 dollars.
>The 550 had an integrated Digital Video cartridge. Moreover, the 550 player was sold with the CD-i Gamepad; The 450 only offered the wired thumbpad. The 550 was introduced for the price of 500 dollar.

Kinda looks like a PS3 super slim

too much shit to list
been doing flea markets for about near 20 years now, so all my shit was cheap as fuck to begin with.

this is probably my best recent grab.
$70 got me the nes and 30 games, including megaman 5. the TG-16 and games were completely free because the guy just had it in his trunk. he was gonna toss it because it didn't have a power cable for some reason, so i asked him if i could have it too. he just said "ok, take it"

later i found the power cable at the bottom of the box of nes shit.
>>
>>3766208
ever since smartphones flea markets in my area are completely dead
>>
Hmm...
None actually. Most retro stores compare their prices from ebay or amazon as I would expected. I think the best I've gotten is a game for $5-10 off the expected price. I got MGS for $15 last year. I also got Columns for $2.50

Got this for $25, can't even find any info online about it but the same company makes Neo Geo arcade sticks of similar quality that go for ~$200

Not exactly retro but I got my copy of Ever17 for 10 bucks when Hirameki International went out of business, goes for like $150 or some shit now

I don't think you could even call it a deal, but it's the best thing I can think of. A nice guy on /jp/ was giving away his Saturn, and I was the lucky recipient. Came with the AR, fight stick, and I think Grandia as well. One of my favorites now, one of the best gifts I've ever received.

Not sure if this counts either, but I bought Japanese CIB copies of Umihara Kawase, FFIV, FFV, FFVI, and Seiken Densetsu 2. Was something along the lines of 70 or 80 dollars, most of that being Umihara Kawase. But they ended up shipping all the games twice, so that ended up pretty good for me.
>>
>>3766212
nah man, you just gotta get there early as FUCK

i got to my market at 5am, because if i don't, all the old man resellers at my market get the games. there is also this super fat guy who waddles around my market and just hoovers up all the games regardless unless its something like $40 for a genesis and 1 game.

he beat me to a table with like 6 fucking 3 ft stacks of gamecube games. imagine seeing pretty much every popular and good game, not to mention rare shit like gotchaforce in these piles and they wanted $2 each

guy spent like over $150 on all of it and he just sells the shit on ebay.

lucky for me, i grabbed some decent shit while he was still looking including a fucking sealed chibi robo

i've been going to the same market for a long ass time, back when games at flea markets used to be 25 cents a pop.

i just learned over the last 2 years that a LOT more people were looking for retro so i had to go earlier and earlier. found out that i can go as early as i want because when the vendors set up is when they open the main gate and anyone can get in.

and trust me, its not a ghost town at like 4am. there is a TON of people looking for everything, lots of old people too.
>>
ive gotten tons of deals at flea markets, but best i think was a sega cd for 50 bucks last year, later that year a working sega 32x for 5 dollars
also got mega man 2 CIB for 55
>>

those fuckers have a an hero battery inside one of the chips

after 25 years roughly how old it is,the battery dies and it stays stuck in a bootloop

sell it on before it fucks up on you anon, only way to fix it is to get a dremmel and chop the fuck off the surface of the chip to get to the internal battery and replace it.

Back in the mid 90s I bought a 'wooden computer' at a garage sale. It was like $5 and I mostly just bought it because it was kinda quirky.
I threw it out like a year later because it didn't even work.
Found out a few years back it was an original Apple computer. They're worth like tens of thousands now.

Pic related. Sorta the same as the one I had, only in MUCH better shape.
>>

Goodwill is super hit or miss honestly. I lucked out and happened to be in the store a few hours after one guy had brought in a literal trash bag full of DVDs, CDs and games.
But since all Goodwill chains are locally operated, prices and shit vary. This was back when lived in Florida, but most places wouldn't have sold it as a set for that price. Where I live now, almost all of the decent electronics and games are sent to the Electronics Superstore or whatever 45 miles away. Other places I've lived hold any retro games for online sale.
>>
My local flea markets no longer operate their vidya stores, I guess the guy probably figured out it was easier to use eBay or whatever. I imagine the trades dried up as well around the time of the Recession.
I've had my luck though:
>Craigslist: $40 for a Saturn revised model with cables and two controllers and an Action Replay
>also Craigslist: $50 for an original Xbox with 4 controllers, San Andreas, THUG and a Model 1 Genesis with cables, 2 controllers (one 6 button!), and NBA Jam plus a USB controller that I think he put in the bottom of the crate by accident
>GameStop: frontlit GBA SP for $20, GB Player for $9.99, both back in 2009
>also GameStop: Pokemon Stadium 2, Hey You Pikachu, Yoshi's Story, DK64 and Wave Race for ~$30 in 2005
>friend gave me his Pocket Pikachu 2 and copy of Pokemon Ruby for free along with all of his old Pokemon cards
>>
Comics replaced my game budget and with prices the way they are I haven't bothered in years. Best deals were r type 3, chrono trigger, ff3, mega man x for $5 a piece, x2, x3, mm7 for $8 a piece, DKC NFR cart for $3. 12 years ago a friend sold me his 64 and 10 games for $20 before going to college.
>>
>>3766991
So what do you search, or do you just browse all gaming?
>>
My friend bought a ps1 for $10 at goodwill last year. I bought a GB color for like $10 a year or two back.

I got a pristine condition PSX with like 30 games, 2 controllers, 2 memory cards, the power adapter (it's a 110v one and I live in a 220v country), cables, and a backpack to carry it all in exchange for a PC joystick that was kind of like a PS2 one only ergonomic as fuck and weighed about as much as a cassette tape. We played over at my house one time and the guy fell in love with the controller. Offered me like 30 bucks for it. I jokingly told him I'd take his PSX with paraphernalia instead and he accepted.
The other great deal I got was a pothead friend of my father gave him a working GBA SP in like 2010 for a joint. The kicker is that he'd found it laying on the street like someone just didn't want anything to do with it. Eventually the battery just stopped living and I couldn't find a replacement in my country.
>>
I bought a sealed GB DMG with the zelda pack in for like $5
my ex stole it and sold that shit on ebay
>>
Games wise I used to go to a resale shop that used to buy all NES games for $.50. They would have stacks of them waiting to get tagged and inventoried. I was a regular and the owner would always tell me "anything not in inventory is $1" I almost have a complete NES collection as a result.

Consoles wise, a few years ago I went to a garage sale in a upper class neighborhood and got a Jaguar w/CD player and 15 games and an Atari 5200 with 6 carts for $20. She told me to make an offer and I said $20? She said "sure!" my wife and I were dumbfounded.

You know whats a shame about some modern consoles?
This SHOULD be a deal, and it actually still is because it has 2 controllers, and perhaps I would've gotten it if it were wired controllers (I barely play the thing these days, so wired would be better for me)

But you damn well know there is a good chance it's red ring of death'd at some point or could.

I dunno, I bought a PS1 for $6+10 shipping with a bunch of super bootleg lookin' games+some PC games, controllers, and a japanese memory card

>>
Free master system a friend found at the dump he worked at that had no cables

$60 for 2 N64 controllers, 10 games and an N64 expansion pack

PAL dreamcast, 2 controllers, a rumble pack and a VMU for $100 give me a break, these things are hard to find for under $200 with only a single controller and a shitty RF cable with no memory cards in Australia

Pretty okay imo
>>
>>3768635

>>
>>3766218

they used to build out of a trailer in the socal area, the entire competitive marvel vs. capcom 2 scene used to get dreamcast sticks from them but i think they closed up shop a few years ago after japanese sticks became more popular in america.
