I recently managed to get pic related to work (I still need to get a new fuse & belt, but I know it's not shot now, so yay.) and right now all I have for it is Sonic CD. What are some recommendations?
My list so far:
Popeful Mail
Keio Flying Squadron
The Terminator
Slipheed
Earthworm Jim
Lords of Thunder
Night Striker
Soul Star
Wolfchild CD
>>
Starblade
Ecco the Dolphin (has a new soundtrack, new levels and some dolphin extra cutscenes)
Lunar 1 and 2

if you can read japanese:
Urusei Yatsura
Warau Salesman
>>
There's no copy protection, you can burn any game you want for it. How can you only have one game?
>>
lol think that fuse patch is long enough?
>>
>>3762449
I know, I also have megamix and another copy of Sonic CD with the right soundtrack burned to CD-Rs, the original point was for burning them. (I'm not paying ~$1000 for Keio Flying Squadron.)

>>3762464
It was what I had on hand, and it's temporary, so eh. Not that it matters anyway, It's not reading discs anymore. I'm sitting here moving the laser focus pot in desperation right now.
>>
>>3762512
It's intensity not focus and I'm pretty sure the Sega CD ones don't have a limiter so you probably burned it out completely now.
>>
>>3762545
Using http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?22027-Sega-CD-systems-repair-thread as reference, it said the left most pot of the three was height adjustment of the laser. Granted it's hardly reading official documentation, but it worked the first time around, and I can't turn the potentiometer all of the way around in either direction, so I don't think that'll be a problem.
>>
>>3762419
I can't belive that no one had said it yet...
SNATCHER!

play it with the justifier light gun if you can.

I really like Night Trap for the novelty, but if you actually want to advance in the game you have to memorize all of the enemies locations.

Judging by your gung ho approach to turning the pot I'm going to stick my neck out and say that you've probably fried it by now...
>>
>>3762419

Humming Bird game. Also Shadow Squadron.
>>
>>3763012
32X is shit though
>>
>>3763019
It's ARCADE quality, anon!
>>
>>3762419
Also get an Everdrive for Cart games?
>>
>>3763001
I'll never know if I had fried it, but ultimately after probably hours of trying I'm throwing in the towel and ordering a new laser.
>>
>>3763053
Maybe, but 'cause right now all I have is the Sonic titles that were for genesis, I'm going to expand the selection of physical copies of stuff I have for it before I get a flash cart.
>>
>>3763316
I'd cancel that order and get a model 2 instead.

You'll have no end of trouble with that turd.

I have a model 2, but have no intention of getting a model 2 genesis to match. (The internals are garbage and is incompatible with the power base converter.) (I know that model 1 genesis is practically a model 2 on the inside... now. That'll be replaced at some point as well.)
Without the extender the setup looks even more moronic, although I'll still keep it around for if / when the model 1 CD starts acting up again after it's fixed.
Call me autistic but I really prefer the aesthetic of model 1 genesis / CD over model 2 genesis / CD, and a million times better than model 1 genesis / model 2 CD.
>>
>>3763469
Is model 1 really that bad? What other problems are there?
Replacing caps and laser assembly shouldn't be that hard.
>>
>>3763569
The tray mechanism is garbage and when it seizes it overloads other components on the board.

It also looks like a cheap piece of shit.

It's incompatible with A power base converter. Not all of them.

Besides you have to have a cable sticking out of the front of the model 1 to even get stereo sound. That makes it a non-starter in my book.

Aside from the off party ones made long after the consoles generation, I'm only familiar with the one that looks like pic related as far as US releases goes. The one for model 2 that was released in Europe doesn't have the card slot, so I wasn't counting it.
The stereo out of the front only is a bit of a annoyance, but one that's minimized enough with a right angle plug that it's hardly a deal breaker over the model 2 combo.
>>
>>3763750
Why would you even bother with that when everdrives exist?
>>
>>3763826
I like carts, plus the only reason I plan on getting a power base converter is to play the 3D games that need the glasses, and by extension the card slot.

first hit on google for "master system adapter" is the official model 2 converter.

I love my CDX. Taking super good care of it so I don't kill the laser.

Shining force CD
Wirehead
Lunar 1
Final fight CD
Double switch
Etc etc

Just shit I'm working through
