Beatrix's faceheelturn was a copout, plain and simple. At the start she was a cold-hearted bitch who outright bragged about killing Burmecians and many others, in your first battle she shoves the fact she killed over a THOUSAND people like it meant nothing to her but a trophy. She followed corrupt Brahne's orders, sure, but she was pretty happy to do so anyway.

During the whole Odin shit she felt like she was being made redundant due to the Eidolon's power, not because she gave even a single shit about Cleyra and its inhabitants' fate. Then pretty much the next time you see her, she questions Brahne purely because she decided to turn against Garnet, her daughter and Princess.

Her apology to Freya was a weak one at best, then her character just turns all romantic/heroic next to Steiner, her war crimes completely ignored.
