I was going to say 94 needs to be bombiest but i realized i never played super bomber man 3 and from what i read its a bigger better version.
So then i went to find a bomberman related image and i found out there was a 52 episode anime i didn't know about.
So today after work I'm going to play 3 and watch cartoons. Thanks.

Saturn Bomberman is the best bomberman.

Prove me wrong.

Pro-tip:
You probably can. I've only played a couple of the bomberman games. Saturn Bomberman was tits tho.
>>

I think Party Edition is the best for multiplayer

N64 games for single player

Source: those are the best games that I actually played

S*Bomberman 3 had the same dev team as Saturn, also it's my personal favorite for multiplayer because of the Bombermans based on their nationalities.

I think you're right, Saturn Bomberman had the high res 10 player mode, and and absolute fantastic soundtrack

>tfw I've never been able to get a ten player game of Saturn Bomberman going

Saturn Bomberman is by far the best one I've played as well.

Unfortunately my Saturn is broken. Is there another Bomberman game that is at least almost as good? I'm talking about crisp graphics (none of this busy 3D shit like Bomberman Online on dreamcast), multiplayer focus (10 players not necessary though), and fun mechanics that are easy to pick up for casual players. When I used to emulate saturn bomberman on my laptop in high school, my friends loved riding around on those little yoshi-looking dinosaur things. Stuff like that.

Maybe I'm looking for Super Bomberman 4 or Bomberman 94?

Played pocket bomberman as a kid and really liked it. Tournament for the gba was really fun, but I never played it with friends which seems like part of the point.
>>
Not retro incoming.[\spoiler]

Bomberman Blast, the WiiWare title, definitely needs to be higher on the list. For how much Saturn Bomberman gets sucked off, Bomberman Blast is just as good. 8 player local is almost as good as the famed 10-player Bomberman, and it's at a fraction of the cost. Only a turbo-autist is going to buy a Saturn+Saturn Bomberman+10 Saturn controllers. If you have a Wii that's connected to the internet, I'd definitely recommend it. Just turn off the three shitty motion-controlled powerups, they're not very good.

The appeal is not just in having 10 players. You need a special bomberman branded multitap anyway and if anyone on /vr/ even has one, I bet it's like one person.

Saturn Bomberman is just a really fun party game. It has just the right amount of fun mechanics without packing in so much stuff as to become bloated. The graphics are big and clear enough to always be able to see what is going on, while not being so minimalist as to turn casuals off, nor so busy as to be distracting (which is a real problem on a lot of the 3D bomberman games I have played).

Since it's a fairly simple, 2D game it also plays just fine in Saturn emulators. You might even be able to play it adequately in Yabause on a Wii. Or even better mednafen's saturn core in retroarch.

Saturn Bomberman. No contest.

>played three Bomberman games
>Bomberman NES, some PC bootleg, and Bomberman Land
>thought the series was pretty shit

didn't realize that those were the low-tier ones...
worth checking out the GBA one?

Bomberman '94 is a seriously impressive game. The graphics are probably the most impressive thing about it - it makes the PC Engine look fully 16bit as opposed to 8bit x 2 (not to get into another "bit war" argument). Unlike the other bomberman games on the PCE it spruces up the level design to be less of the "blocky arena" thing the series was known for and make things appear more organic and interesting.

Everything in your second paragraph could be applied to at least 60% of the Bomberman games that I've played. Saturn Bomberman doesn't have this perfect mix of fun mechanics, it's not any better than a lot of those games that are one or even two tiers below it. It's a good game, but it's a tired meme.
>>
>>3750642
Ok. That's a fair point. For the most part bomberman is bomberman is bomberman. They are all basically the same game. Some games with "bomberman" in the title are way out there and not so well executed, but those don't really count, and some genuine bomberman games have unfortunate stylistic or mechanical choices that make the games harder to enjoy, but the rest of them all generally hit on the key points that make people enjoy the series.

Within that 60% (or whatever) of "competent" bomberman games, the differences are pretty small, I guess. But all red wine basically tastes like red wine, and yet sommelier who talk about "blackcurrant on the nose" or whatever actually are detecting differences in flavor. You're not "wrong" if you think they are mostly all the same, or for not preferring the one that is hailed as the best, but people who do prefer it do have their reasons.
