That's what happens when you grip Genny carts too tight. They just weren't made with Nintendo quality.

I didn't snap a pic, but I got a copy of BattleTanx: Global Assault, and the pins were all as green as the cart.

After an hour of cleaning, it finally worked.
I need to open it up though to see how the internals are holding up.

You're not proving a damn thing.
These photos are from people who were purposely setting out to destroy the stuff. Whereas that Genesis cart merely looks like it was stepped on by accident.

>>
>>3744696
See this is one area where NintenDID what Sega didn't. Sega didn't put the protective plastic film over the labels of any of their games, so they're much more susceptible to such damage.
>>
>>3744689
That doesn't look like an accident
>>
>>3744718
Well, that's what your mother said about you too. Doesn't make it less true.
>>
>>3744717
Too bad nintendo stopped doing that right after the new. All snes and n64 games have craptacular paper labels. See>>3744687

Only the really late print SNES games (like 1995 onward) are without the film.
>>
>>3744910

Actually some snes gamesglossy labels. The ones that don't have glossy labels are usually made from Mexico or later releases.

JP n64 all have laminated labels form what i've seen.

But yeah genesis labels suck, very few are semi glossy or glossy at all.

Nigga, it went through a bombing, and that's really the only non-cosmetic damage it took.

collectorfags btfo. This is why I emulate.
>>
>>3744993
Didn't this guy supposedly just have this in a shed in his yard or some shit? Not even in storage locker or warehouse, like some shack with no proper storage methods taken
>>
>>3744998
Emu is good, especially with SNES, GEN, etc. as it's really perfect. Possessions can own you, imagine how that guy felt.
>>
Anyone have that Craigslist pic where an Earthbound cardtridge was sacrificed for some other game?
>>
>>3744965

Bullshit.

The Gulf War Gameboy had its screen replaced, the first screen was completely melted. The only reason they knew it worked originally was because it made noise.

It's still an amazing achievement in sturdiness and longevity but it didn't just come out of the fire looking like that.

>>
>>3745048
lol i was the guy who originally posted that. I dont have the pics anymore of it but a I got an update on that whole thing. The ad got a shit ton of attention and people were calling up the guy saying how much of an idiot he was for doing that and eventually he removed the earthbound cart from the ad then removed the ad all together
>>
>>3746578
I don't understand what that even means - sacrificed for another game. Explain.
>>
>>3746595
Using one cart as a donor for a flash cart or chip transplant usually.
>>
>>3746595
>>3746605
what happened was this guy had 2 games, earthbound and some other game and im guessing the casing of the second game was broken, so he assumed earthbound was just some worthless game and drilled opened the earthbound cart, put the other games board in it and melted the edges to hold it together and even advertised it as that

They took the extra step to permanently seal gemfire inside the earthbound cart. I like to imagine they threw the earthbound pcb into the garbage after.

>>
>>3746673
Kek why would I do that, I fucking hated that shit game.
>>
>>3746716
Yuh huh. Wew lad. It wasn't /comfy/ enough.
>>
>>3746719
No. There are more comfy games than Redditbound.
>>
>>3746782
Overuse of the "comfy" and "reddit" memes signifies a /v/illage missing it's idiot. Actual /vr/ posters tend to have real complaints about games they don't like. Hipster faggots like you just hate things because they became popular regardless of quality.
>>
>>3746785
I think it's mostly privileged white kids who aren't good at anything that were permanently traumatized by a guy with too many scarves and a weird beard who had sex with a girl they never talked to, so now they hate the game he likes.
>>
>>3746819
I wish they would migrate to /r9k/ where that kind of shit is encouraged.

>Sega didn't put the protective plastic film over the labels of any of their games, so they're much more susceptible to such damage.
More like Sega let third parties make their own fucking carts and third parties didn't protect their labels as much.
>>
When I was a wee lad, I came home from school one day and found that our pet rabbits had chewed through most of my N64 cords, including the controller ones.

I actually cried.
>>
every time I see a broken piece of game software or hardware, my soul dies a little bit

Wiki on the image says the screen "wasn't replaced, as reported in Nintendo Power"

Though it certainly looks to have held up well if that's the case.
