Glass cannon usually. It's a whole lot more fun for me when I know how fragile but powerful my mobile suit is.

honestly it's surprisingly viable once you realize you've become more maneuverable than the missiles and that all the enemies have to use the same guided weapons systems you do, so you can just juke the fuck out of any weapon with enough skill.

when I'm not just having fun though, if I actually want to make things easy for myself, I'll go with machine guns and combination missiles (verts+extend salvos or salvo+extend verts, switching to machine gun after launch just to make dodging near impossible), especially in the games that have overheat mechanics, which I honestly love.

there are of course missions where snipers and missiles are the only real viable options, and ones where you have to go giantdad just to carry enough dakka to destroy all the shit you have to. not that that stops me from just cutting planes with a sword anyway.

When I first started on Armored Core, I always made super heavy mechs, but as I learned to play the game, I got rid of all the bulky armor in favor of speed. Makes me wish there were more lightweight-class humanoid legs in AC.
