Is there a rom of this game that fixes the defeated enemy targeting? I know later games corrected it, but Id love to play it in NES style if possible.
Final Fantasy Restored fixes all the bugs but it doesn't do that. Auto-targeting not being there isn't a bug.
It's largely known as a strategic thing.
Just play the PSX version.

Or the GBA version.
Both are the same as far as I understand.

I think there's a patch that sets it so that you aren't prompted to attack until that characters turn comes up, so you literally can't target defeated enemies.

The GBA version is babby mode
Play final fantasy 3 instead.
The auto target works in that as do most of the things that DON'T in ff1.
Better music too.

>both are the same
Hell no.
All games after PS1 are literally locked into PS1's easy mode with no choice. Not to mention the new MP system.

The Playstation version is already babby mode. GBA is sperm mode.

Isn't the Origins version pretty much the same as NES in terms of difficulty? I know it added easy mode, but I had thought normal was about the same.
GBA is weak with weak-ass bonus dungeons.

Even normal mode 'fixes' a few 'bugs'. The game is easier, the art is worse. Not muh FF.

You understand incorrectly
NES, PSX, or Wonderswan

The bonus dingeons are overall lame but I enjoyed getting to add FFI to the list of worlds Gilgamesh has hopped
