What'd you score recently?
Pic related is from my trip to the used book store today. Tiger-Heli and Hollywood Squares were just a buck each, and I can rarely say no to dollar games, even junker titles.
>>
>>3740527
>Tiger Heli for a single dollar

unreal. My dad loved that game man. Brings memories. Great top down classic

also, at a book store? didnt know they carried old game stuff. Never even crossed my mind to do so. was it a chain or something local?
>>
>>3740560
Nah it's just a single (albeit large) location. Used book stores tend to also buy/sell DVDs, CDs, and a lot of times game stuff too. You should definitely seek any out in your area.
>>
>>3740527
Picking up an n64, 4 controllers, golden eye, Zelda OOT, NFL blitz, and 1080. All for $60, not the greatest deal but seems band average to me.
>>
>>3740848
OOT alone tends to sell for that around here, and an N64 with 1 controller is around $70. You did well.
>>
>>3740853
Really?? I feel like you can scoop up OOT for anywhere from 20-30 on eBay.
>>
>>3740527
I bit the bullet on getting a N64 yesterday, after wanting one for years.

Here's what I've got
>The N64 w/ expansion pak, 4 controllers and a memory card
>Blast Corps
>Starfox 64
>Mario Kart
>Smash Bros
>Ep. 1 Racer
>Pokemon Snap
>Rouge Squadron
>Battletanx Global Assault
>Perfect Dark
>Doom 64

This all totals up to about $300

How'd I do?

>>3740527
i just picked up the resident evil trilogy for the psx and megaman 3 for nes. i would post a pic but theyre downstairs and i don't want to wake anyone up to go get them
>>
>>3740876
If you imagine the 64 and controllers costed around 80 dollars you are spending on average $20 per cart. Granted some of those carts are worth more than $20 but some are barely worth 10.

Biting the bullet would be forking over 200 for an everdrive and buying a cool 64 to play every 64 game ever.

>inb4 original carts
You never owned one therefore there is no significant value that any of these carts has to you.

Sorry if this post comes off rood but it's just how I am man.
>>
>>3740941
The 64 itself was 80, then I had to get a expansion pak and 3 more controllers, bringing the console price up to $150

I thought about getting a Everdrive, but I found out I could get most all of the games I was wanting for not much more than the cost of one.

I mean, I guess that means I won't get to play Mario Artist, but that's not too big a loss for me.

Besides that, I'm pretty frugal, so I've been sitting on a lot of unspent visa gift cards I've received over the years.
>>
>>3740973
Danggggg. That's insane, I'm this anon >>3740848 so you can understand why I'm so hard on you about the price.

I'll never argue about gift cards though, smoke me if you got em.

Picked up a Game Doctor SFIII and about 80 Discs for $30 off C/L this weekend.
I know this is one of the more common, Less powerful copiers but I really wanted one back in the 90's.
Not Retro but also got 6 AAA 360 games for $3 each at a local thrift shop.
>>
>>3740994
Yeah, the console cost more that I wanted.

I was gonna buy one online, but anything I found sub $60 was the console only, no controllers, no power brick, no video cable, no expansion pak, and they were often in bad condition.

So I bought one from my local Vintage Stock.
The charge $80 a console, but at least it came with everything needed.

The controllers ate up most of the cost though, since they were $16 a piece.

recapped and replaced the screen protector with a glass one and it works great. to celebrate i picked up shining force for game gear for $22 (bit of a splurge)

pic related: post repair.

SNES Batman Returns and The Jungle Book for $6 a piece. Batman alone seems to go for $20'ish on eBay.

Almost got $20 Super Metroid on craigslist but the bitch sold it out from under me

A cpl years ago I moved I had a Spare Snes a bunch of nes spares and about a dozen or so common Snes carts vanish while in storage.
so this will be a neat retro way to play those games on real hardware again.

talking about old games and emulating them. I'm old and grew up with all of the physical cartridges and consoles. spend your money in a better way. carts suck, we moved on for a reason. it makes me sad that people are spending hundreds of dollars on a single piece of plastic rather than putting it away or doing something worthwhile with it.

I understand hobbies, but I don't understand why people are nostalgic for a period they didn't live in. technology wasn't better then, it's so much better now. you're just making resellers rich by fueling the market for what was, until a few years ago, garage sale garbage.

Do you also go to forums where people talk about collecting stamps and/or coins and tell them they're all wasting their money? Or maybe classic car collectors? Sounds like you've got some real insight here and if only you shared your revolutionary views with people they'd stop spending their money on things you don't want them to.

also emulation will never be 100% accurate to the original hardware.

Those are nice in black

Just picked this stuff up today for alittle less than 10 dollars, I have a few Gameboy cases but I've never seen this one before.
>>

That game boy case piques my interest. Care to open it up and snap a pic?

As for that top slot I'm not too sure what that's for? Any ideas? Batteries?

Alright so I'm new to the NES, I just got the one my grandma had laying around and I've cleaned up the connectors nicely.
Anyone know why the vertical lines are so jagged or how I could make it a bit better? It looks just as jagged through composite and RF.
>>
I never find good deals on retro anymore because of filthy jewrat reseller scum. I seriously fucking hate those bastards with an almost unhealthy passion.

Why do they have to specifically be born and exist solely to ruin my choice of hobby? Why oh why do things like this only happen to me? It's not fucking fair that I can't waltz into any thrift I choose and flip through copy after copy of CIB secrets of evermores, earthbounds, haganes and what have you, all for pennies each.
>>
>>3762870
I still find stuff super cheap, you have to put in the effort. Get up at 4am for the flea market and suffer alittle for it.

How goddamn over-the-top do I have to go before people start calling me out for these reseller flame posts ? This shit isn't normal, yo.

I mean, I understand a general dislike... but this place treats them with such irrational hatred I just don't understand.
>>
>>3762908
It's like if I'm at a sale or store and I see a 50 dollar game for 1 dollar I'm just supposed to walk away from it. No way, this is America, I'm going to buy it and flip it for a profit.
>>
>>3762908

Cease.

>>3762780

You aren't going to get a super clear picture through either RF or composite. Hard to say from such an upclose shot, but I assume those are just a result of the connection and not something you will notice from normal playing distance. The only way you will get super sharp, clean pixels closer to what you might be used to from emulators or modern collections will be if you RGB mod it.
>>
>>3762948
>RGB mod it.

Not the person you replied to but those words sting me. Fuck, worked for minimum wage long enough that any time I get my raise of a quarter for a year, it is the new minimum wage. My recent pickups are fucking $4.50USD bootlegs from China for my offbrand "new" TV with a clone console. I have been waiting for a Wii-U price drop so I could even try some new games and Nintendo recalls them from all stores in my area, and the price never dropped with resellers asking for more than new due to the shortage. Fuck me.

For a dollar, NES Tetris and Track & Field 2 are pretty good for me. Then again, I recall cheating at the latter because I had a NES Advantage. Also the WCW vs. NWO World Tour is pretty good for a dollar too. Nothing truly stellar, but for just $3 I'd be truly thrilled as I like sports games.

It isn't extremely noticeable but I find it distracting, and text can get rough.
I noticed text will look clean for the one frame before the system powers down. It also improves lower on the screen
Could it be a bad component/crystal or in the tv? The wave happens on the SNES over composite too, but it's less noticeable.

Alright so I confirmed it's the video processing in the TV by doing the 240p test on HDRetroVision. The picture displays without the distortion when it reads it on a component channel. The support guy on samsung didn't believe me when i said it was the way the TV interpreted the signal.

Since I'm posting in this thread already I figure I should post what I got today
From agame store:
Zelda 2 was $20 loose, beat to sit but I really wanted to play it on the nes
Gyromite was $5 and is in good condition
From ebay:
Hamtaro was 6.50 with free shipping.
Probably not going to waste my time driving to that store again unless I want one of the rarer items they had, but I'm not interested so much in rarity.
>>
>>3766673
I might be wrong but, the tv might be upscaling it wrong? Do you have a crt or another TV to test on?
>>
>>3766686
I don't but at this point I'm confident that it is the video processing from the TV, probably on the upscaler. Unfortunately I don't have another display to test with. Do you know of a good solution to this that isn't RGB and/or the framemeister because who wants to spend a couple grand.
>>
>>3766701
find a cheap CRT goodwill.
>>
>>3766712
I'll take a look, but I hate the 15khz screeching those things make. Is there a way to make them not do that?
>>
>>3766734

>>
>>3766685
If the Gyromite has a converter in it then you just scored.
>>
>>3767345
it isn't unfortunately. I wasn't sure exactly how heavy "heavier" was but that's what I was hoping for.
>>3766712
I was traveling for a bit of today and stopped at 2 goodwill stores, they both had almost exactly the same electronics section:
2 old LCD monitors (1280x1024 ish resolution) on the top of the shelf to the left of the aisle.
2-3 10/100 mbps modems/routers
Various keyboards that were the kinds that come with desktop computers
various VHS and DVD players, but none looked like they would be any kind of improvement to what I have

One of the goodwills had Yoshi's Island for DS, but turned out to be nintendogs. 2 PSP game boxes (no games). 4 GB games (Donkey kong, tetris, turok, and something else) all marked at $20. Goodwill sucks massive donkey dick.
>>
>>3766712
Goodwills where I'm at aren't allowed to take tv's anymore because there were too many.
>>
>>3767949
I've had absolutely no luck in Goodwills in my area for a while now. They used to get decent stuff but it's all dried up now. If I didn't know any better, I'd say we shopped at the same goodwill stores.

If one of my local Goodwills didn't keep randomly getting in high-end AV equipment and hilariously underpricing it, I'd stop going altogether.
>>
>>3768398
I went to one in Portsmouth and one in Seabrook, both New Hampshire. The Seabrook one had the games. I almost bought a record player/EQ/tape deck thing for $8 but I don't have speakers for it and I don't know anything about brands for record players.

>>
>>3768523
Well you can buy empty carts on amazon and whatnot but you don't have to throw away the board when you reuse the cart. I have a shitload of atari 2600 games that don't have a cart and I don't even know where they came from. A friend of mine years ago must have left them at my house in a giant bag but they still work without the cart.
>>
>>3768529
>>3768523
I just realized that amazon is selling an empty cart shell for 10 bucks, youre better off buying a buck or two game and cannibalizing the cart.

I need a new cart for my copy of pilotwings because I bought a broken one at the flea market for 25 cents on a gamble it still works and it does but the case is busted to shit.

My plan is actually to attach wires to the PCB of the donor (removing any and all components), other end goes to a replacement 72 pin connector, to connect to a famicom adapter for use with a front loader NES
