Nah.
>>3734364
Super Star or gtfo.
>>3734364
Not while Superstar exists. It is criminally underrated though.
>>3734364

I think RtDL and 3D proves Sakurai won in the end
Although I do miss the buddies
fire crotch
>>3734423
Didn't Sakurai only make DL1, Adventure, SS, and Air Ride?
>>3734364
Definitely one of the good ones, if nothing else.fuck me I miss Dark Matter and the animal friends
>>3734434
When I brought up RtDL, I mostly meant how those games plays directly like a sequel to Superstar rather than Dreamland 3 or 64
But ya, Sakurai didn't work on very many.
>>3734426
looks like he's rimming a female kirby desu
>>3734364
DL3 is underrated. My favorite is probably either adventure or 64 personally. Adventure is such a fun game and 64 is very atmospheric and I love the sense of travel in it.
>>3734364
I agree.

Sakurai Kirby is actually Sakurai+Shimomura Kirby. They worked together heavily on Adventure and Super Star. Both were required to make truly great Kirby games. One without the other could still be quite good, but incomplete. Without either director, Kirby's kind of bland, the new director is like a cheap imitation Sakurai, only far more tryhard. The series now ranges from mediocre to fine, nothing really groundbreaking or engaging.
Ado is adorable. DL3 reminds me of Links Awakening. Lots of puzzles & references to other Nintendo characters. Slight melancholy yet cheerful tone.
>>3734409
I like both Sakurai & Shimomura styles. Shimo I felt puts better puzzles, story elements and characters in kirby. Sakurai does a better job on the controls and movesets of kirby in action. Shimo games still have good controls and I feel people complain too much about them being slow.

I quite like Ado, she's my 3rd favorite Kirby character after Dedede and Kirby himself. She was (probably intentionally on Shimomura's part) developed quite well for a main character role, from her interesting premise within the world of Pop Star, her unique character style within the Kirby universe, her introduction as a Dark Matter possessed victim in DL3, her blooming friendship with Kirby and Dedede over the credits, then she gets to close the game by painting "The End". Her reappearance in Kirby 64 as a fully fledged main character was a great culmination of her development over DL3, and it was fitting her first adventure as a main character would be with her new friends, Kirby and Dedede, working together on a journey for the first time, confronting the Dark Matter again. I wish she was in Air Ride as well and she continued to be a main character of the Kirby series, she brought something unique to the formula and it doesn't quite feel the same without her.
>Slight melancholy yet cheerful tone
No video game does that better than DL3. I love it.

I have never played a kirby game outside of Crystal Shards when it was released.
What's the best place to start? I'm open to any and all Kirby games

Unfortunately HAL is weird about her since her appearance is that of a human. Apparently they don't want any humans or characters resembling humans in the series, apparently they were real fussy about this when the anime was being made. Real shame, would love to see her return. I guess they were more lenient before, though I believe I read that apprently Shimomura left HAL after creative disputes on crystal shards.

I don't think that's why, that's just a rumor. People also say that the reason fairies haven't returned, because they look too humanoid, but the NME salesman looks more human than they do. It must be another reason. There's nothing wrong with an actual human in Kirby anyway, she fits the aesthetic, she's distinct and interesting, kind of mysterious, and along with all the Shiver Star stuff it enriches the lore.
>>3734614
Adventure is goat. Cozy af.
>>3734364
I'd put it on par with Super Star. Both amazing games.
>>3738282
all they need to remember is not to give human characters voice acting. we've seen how that ended for sonic.
>>3738308
To be fair the NME salesman was for them to reveal the greatest plot twist in anime history.
>>3738441
I don't think any Kirby characters should have any voice acting, it ruin the cuteness. I don't like the annoying voice Kirby is constantly emitting at all. I like his chirp and sqeakes from the 16-bit games.
sound effects > voice acting

>>3740324
I prefer the art style and sound of the original. The only new subgame worth it's salt is Revenge of the King, anyway. Plus, co-op is great in Super Star.
>>3740401
OK. I'm just saying that Ultra improved on many problems the original had, so it's weird how everyone prefers what can be considered the "inferior" version. Also, thanks for giving an actual reason for preferring the original game instead of blatantly attacking me, not giving anything to support your opinion
>>3740350
That's like saying the original NES Metroid is better than Zero Mission because it's older. Where's the sense?
>>3740926
Well, it also kind of messed up the physics. Kirby has a slightly slower run and he's a little more slippery. The SNES also has better controllers, it's more comfortable than holding a DS and looking at a tiny screen. Plus you can lie on the couch with your friend and just play, looking at the same TV. And again, the sound quality just isn't as good on DS speakers. I appreciate more content and a new take on the graphics, Super Star Ultra is a must-play if you like Kirby, but so is Super Star, and I just don't think different or bigger equate to superior. It's a matter of preference, you can't pretend your view is objectively true.
>>3740964
Well, I mean in terms of "instantly getting hit by an enemy you didn't know was there after exiting a door," which the original had a ton of instances of. I guess I get your point of view, though.
>>3740980
Can you point out some specific instances where you're placed in a position where you'll instantly get his?
>>3740984
No super specific areas come to mind (they all kinda get blurred together for me), but literally cases where you'd exit a door and immediately get hit by something.
>>3741752
Just like in Super Star Ultra where you're held down and raped by Bonkers. I can't point out WHEN but it happens so much it makes the game almost unplayable
>>3734364
Kirby golf and Super star are both more fun
kinda strange Ado has not appeared in a game since 64 when she has so much fan art.
