Can we have a BBS Doors thread?
wew lad good luck
you have to have been a pretty big nerd for a really long time
Long time nerd here. Playing Usurper as a Gnoll Alchemist were some of my fondest memories. Also enjoyed talking shit to other callers, and sharing warez. Early 90's was great for gaming.
Aww yeah.
I remember LORD. I remember typing random words like HOTT, and Jenny (Garth) would net you extra items or fights.
Man it's been a long time.
I've been trying to find the source for that for the longest time. And the gold edition of Trade Wars as well. Any leads?
are there any BBS's still left? I never experienced one before.

There's a resurgence in their popularity among the 8-bit computer crowd.
Some of my fondest BBS memories involve posting sarcastic shit on FIDOnet, and this trick I did that made me a god in Planets: The Exploration of Space.
>Go to PoorOnia
>Buy Plastic Trinkets
>Sell on Richonia
>Buy Eden warp Engines with profit
>Lather, rinse, repeat.
>Sell Air Conditioners on Vulcan
I spent every night cloaked and armed to the teeth.

As far as I remember there was a small but active BBS scene you could access via Telnet.

Actual door games or BBS games in general? I started working about the time doors became all the rage so missed out on most of it. But have plenty of experience with older stuff.
Holy shit dude, I haven't seen anyone talk about LORD in about 25 years.
Was one of my first computer games. I once accidentally called a BBS long distance and racked up a several hundred dollar phone bill. My dad recently brought that up lol, I never told him it was me.
I remember downloading a shitload of RealVideo porn.
I remember I beat LORD when that random trigger even happened, if I remember correctly. I think when an enemy kills your horse you go into a blind rage instantly kill the enemy and it just happened to be the dragon that did it.

Thanks for sharing. Really relevant to the topic. But thanks for sharing.

I only knew of a few of them at the time. I really wish I had known them all!
With the Internet more and more homogenized and subject to corporate and governmental control/mingling, I hope BBSes make a resurgence.

There's already a whole load of both telnet and dialup BBSes already there. Check the Telnet BBS guide.

I used to own a copy of TW and actually registered it. Played it on a BBS composed of 5 of my friends about 3 hours a night.Played that, a cracked version of PITT , STARS, LOD and fishing. Ran it of a freeware Telguard BBS.
