Playing Gradius II for the first time can feel really hard, but it succumbs to memorizing. It has a lot of stuff to stop you from beating it on the first try though. I'm speaking of those fire arches and birds on the first stage, for example.

The rest is just what you'd expect from Gradius game. Yes, it's hard, but there's nothing unpredictable in it.

First loop of Gradius II is easy, looping is where the difficulty is at, it gets pretty damn tough.

Gradius III arcade is pretty hard on the first loop already
