So what is your favorite game /vr/? I just totaled up my hours from my carts and virtual version and I came in at just under 1700 hours. Been playing since launch and just ended another one this morning.
I used to think it was Earthbound but I'm not so sure anymore.
KoF'98. Still play it every day. It's the best casual fighter I've found.
The Legend of Zelda.

it's my first time playing this game and I'm not quite certain in terms of the level one has to play it on, i enjoy it but not to the degree of pouring hundreds of hours into it.
i feel i'm doing quite poorly (getting few units upgraded but not losing them either) and I'm afraid there's a difficulty curve ahead which will render my previous efforts null and void.

Panzer Dragoon Zwei but also probably Wild Arms and SaGa Frontier.

Mega Man X
Chrono Trigger and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night are very closely behind it though
Doom 1
Monster Hunter 3rd Portable and 4 Ultimate but these aren't retro.
It's a very hard choice between:
>Donkey Kong Country 2
>Castlevania: Rondo of Blood
>Ristar
>Golden Axe III
>Jet Set Radio
>Banjo-Kazooie
>Yoshi's Island
>Streets of Rage 2
>Splatterhouse 2
>Musha Aleste
and I can't choose. I love them equally.

I was still learning new things about the game in my five and sixth runs through. It's very deep, and if you want to play well, I would recommend just going slow. Look up some guides, particularly Dancing Elf's Chaos Frame guide if you want the best ending and characters.

What? Did it go from retro to antique or something?

>Golden Axe III
>Streets of Rage 2
>Yoshi's Island
>Castlevania: Rondo of Blood

>Rondo

Demon's Souls is pretty great though. It probably edges out God Hand and Shadow Tower for me.
and I really, REALLY like Shadow Tower

he probably means PC engine rondo

I have DeS and DaS 1-3. I have never played them though. Should I play them in order? Or is there a better way? Also, you can have a /vr/ favorite and a modern favorite. No judgment.
Garou: Mark of The Wolves is probably one of my favorite fighting games ever. The atmosphere, the graphics, the characters, the controls, everything just clicked with me.

Demon's Souls is the best, they only get more rushed and sloppy after
