What did you think of this game /vr/?

HUM HUMMMM UMMM HUMM HUM.
Great atmosphere and music. Tim and the monkey guy's scenarios are the worst parts of the game, though.

Ellison's AM is genuinely one of the best performances in vidya.
The music is really good
The story is also pretty good but also the game does suffer from typical 90's point and click adventure game logic
I felt like the story arc with the airship was really the only interesting one. It's one of the most surreal things I've experienced, that segment with the jackal is great.

Pretty good, one of the few games with a good story. Though the short story was the basis so it's a little sad that one of the best videogame stories had to take it from a novel.
I still hope someday the uncensored version releases, despite knowing most of the changes i would like to see it.
Fun fact: In the German version Nimdok's scenario is entirely removed. No hacking was actually done to adjust this fact the game is actually completely unbeatable in any way.
Without a doubt, IHNM is the game that I have spent the most time actively thinking about.
Not to say it's the game I have the most hours logged into by any means, but this is the game that's inspired me the most to think about things relating to it.
That Longplays Archive YT video of it randomly showed up in my recommended/related videos list back in 2011, and even though that longplay is about 3 1/2 hours long I watched the entire thing.
Inspired me to read the book/play the game myself. Harlan Ellison is a genius and I love his work. He does a great job voicing AM in this game.
Gameplay is nothing to write home about, and the music is passable, but the rich and compelling story, the groundbreaking topics/actions the player can doallow a woman to get raped, perform nazi doctor experiments on innocent children, eat a childmake it an unforgettable experience.
If you have the mental fortitude and /vr/ stomach to power through some admittedly crappy 90's point and click puzzles, this game is a goddamn gemAnd if you're just a goddamn casual watch the longplay.

By uncensored version, do you mean the one that has all of the content the developers were hoping for?
Full release is out on GOG afaik, but I remember seeing recently on Lost Media Wiki that an early version of the game had a scene whereBenny could eat a baby to try and ease his hungerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pvt-yuDpfGw
>>3728390
I don't recall eating a child in the game, when does that happen? I assume Benny's scenario?
>>3728549
I may be mixing it up but I'm pretty sure in Benny's scenario there's anoption when the boy gets put up on the altar to ask to eat him
I don't remember if that was left in/they cut that, but footage exists of himeating a baby, so it was intended to be put in

Some other stuff was removed from the initial version, Benny eating the baby was most prominent. It was never included in the game at any stage but I wish they focused on Benny's homosexuality. It's a pretty important part of his arc in the original story.
>>3726672
What was censored aside from changing Benny's backstory (I guess since having a gay character in a video game was still a bit too much at the time) and removing Nimdok's scenario in one version?

Some stuff is discussed here.

My favorite horror adventure game
Hate the logic in the Trucker's level though.
>using the gun at any time will kill you
>except this one point

Great game, but it seems like Gorrister's story had a LOT more effort put into it than the others.

>Though the short story was the basis so it's a little sad that one of the best videogame stories had to take it from a novel.
What's wrong with that? A lot of good art is just a translation of preexisting art into a different medium.

>Tim
>Monkey guy
I bet your eidetic memory really gets you places.
>>3726672
It's not sad. Look how many fantastic classic movies were based on books, like most of Kubrick's work.
One of those games that fascinate me but will never have the balls to actually experience first hand. Still read a lot about it and watched some clips from it over the years.

Hey now, it's been a couple of years since I last played it and needless to say, I didn't like those two enough for their names to stick with me.
I was pretty disappointed with Benny's scenario since they toned down the gay aspect.

>never have the balls to actually experience first hand
How come? If you're a completion it will definitely frustrate you. Just keep lots of saves. I think aside from Gorrister's scenario, it's pretty obvious what to do, both to just get through the scenario and to get the best ending.
am I completey stuck if I somehow messed up the Edna part? She's still hung there and I can't talk to her anymore. First time playing this seriously and it's great so far but I forgot how frustrating it is to be at a deadend in these type of games.
