Why are gamesharks so unreliable?

Always wondered this. I got one brand new for Christmas years ago never had a problem everyone I've had since has been terrible.

>no lcd installed
Sorry if this is obvious, but is the Gameshark's key code matching the game? I haven't tried this in a while, but I remember a lot of games required you to switch codes. I think SM64 worked with the default code and you could switch from there.
I thought mine was broken until I remembered that, and ended up being fine.

yeah that fixes some problems but most times it just stops booting unless you try 20 times

Garbage made by third party. I believe n64 ones let you bypass region lock so it has that going for it.

There was no region lock on the N64, you could play games from regions that mattered on both NA and Japan N64 consoles. All you needed to do was swap the backs of the carts.

>There was no region lock on the N64
Said the retarded baby.
My friend used to always kill N64 gamesharks doing shit on Perfect Dark. He's been through more than 5.
I wrecked my gameboy one and got a newer model that held up a lot better. They really improved it.

Just the N64 one or Gamesharks in general? I've been using the same Gameshark Pro for GB/GBC since I was a kid and it's worked just fine.
The ram chip on it which holds the codes also holds the entire Gameshark rom. So when it fucks up from looking at it wrong the whole thing dies. You can fix it if you desolder the chip and re flash it.

There was region lock you idiot.
