ISS Deluxe, it's easy to grasp and a great 2 player fun, if you like soccer.
Bice mice from Mars, Top Gear is good too.
SNES generally got decent ports of fighters, SSF 2 Turbo, World Heroes.

A classic, I concur with that as well.

If you've got a SNES than you gotta try Goof Troop. It's even more fun in co-op. Stuff like Pocky and Rocky or Contra is also pretty good. You could also fire up a beat'em up on co-op (like Final Fight, Streets of Rage or one of the Konami Turtles games) or just beating eachother with a fighting game (Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat are safe bets, others like Fatal Fury or Killer Instinct are also fine).

Do some Contra. I can't really think of a better mutliplayer game to sit down and get into the thick of it with people. Very little setup time and the action starts immediately. Also a big fan of beat em ups like Battletoads and Double Dragon, or Final Fight, or any number of PSX and earlier ones.

I think Perfect Dark and Gauntlet Legends are also good choices if you have a 64, but they're sort of more long term games, since their challenge simulator and main game both build on themselves.

Darius Twin is a 2player shmup on the SNES.
Never played it with a second player, but I'd imagine with 2 people firing there's gonna be a lot of slow down in some places.
