Hey, Ive always wanted to do a little project that's kinda dumb but I still wanna do it.
I've always wanted to mod an ISO of LSD dream emulator and change the background music sound files to vaporwave ambient songs. The game is literally as authentically aesthetic as it gets. How would I go doing this? I've seen people talk about knowing code and more shit I don't know about, is there a tool that would sort of make it like PC files or something? Like just delete the original music files, and add the new files and rename them what the old ones were named. Idk if this is viable but what I think is like, the game loads an area and finds "track1" to play. If I delete the real track1 and add let's say some blank banshee and rename it track1 I could do this without changing the code since it's still getting track1.
>>
You're a retard asking stupid questions. You should look into editing some of the obnoxious footsteps first of you wanted to "I M P R O V E" the game"

Go play Namco Museum.
>>
>>3697094
>literally authentically aesthetic
Go back to facebook and quit using aesthetic as an adjective
>>
>>3697094
You know ISO is a container format? Just extract the data from the ISO, zip it back up in the .iso format add the music you want and voila. You should probably make a backup just in case you fuck up though.
>>
>>3697094
First off, kill yourself, fuckers like you ruined the niche community of vaporwave to begin with. Second, it's not simple drag and drop for stuff like that, and third, the music in LSD apart from the .STR cutscenes is sequenced.
>>
>>3697756
Theres also ~500 fucking tracks in the damn thing. Replacing the 40mb sequenced audio with some streamed shit would blow the fucking size out of the water

They released a soundtrack on CD, thats why i thought it was possible.

>>3697756
How bout you go back to /mu/ and stop being such a damn elitist. How have i helped ruin vaporwave? Its a genre I like. Are you one of those idiots that think "if X stops being a niche genre and becomes somewhat mainstream, it's shit now"?
Let me listen to what I damn well please without saying "you are ruining MY super sekrit genre"
>>
>>3697948
Not the guy you're replying to, but I never liked vaporwave, even back in like 2010 when the term only applied to chopped and screwed weather channel music, but it pisses me off now because every slow electronic track is "vaporwave" these days in the same way that every fast techno track was "dubstep" a few years back, and I REALLY hate how common it is to hear people use "aesthetic" on its own, like it means anything. Vaporwave has an aesthetic. You could call that the vaporwave aesthetic. You may find vaporwave aesthetically pleasing. But to say something IS aesthetic doesn't make any sense. It's like saying "vaporwave is style," or "vaporwave is tone."
>>
>>3698689
dude vaporwave as slow chopped music is rare now, they vary from sped up old pop tracks to original music made from sampling old videogames or other old stuff (e.g. blank banshee MEGA track "frozen flame" uses samples from various /vg/ stuff like chronotrigger and other of his songs use MGS samples)
vaporwave has actually evolved as a genre and id go as far to say it has many sub genres, much like BB was a pioneer of whats now known as future bass, many vaporwave styles have evolved into a newly labled genre. eiter way,s lowed down tracks are again, rare now a days, so you should try to listen to some new songs.
>>
>>3698785
That shit's called plunderphonics.
>>
>>3698785
>Vaporwave is like 40 different genres and is literally meaningless

It hasn't evolved, it died. Vaporwave has been dead since like 2012. It was a tumblr genre that still only exists there and is parroted by people who like to think they know how to troubleshoot extension conflicts in System 6. They don't.

Never knew /vr/ could get so salty about someone's taste in music. You do you, OP. If you figure it out post a link, I'd love to play LSD with some blank banshee in the background.

Honestly, while whatever "vaporwave" really is, is very difficult to ascertain but the vague genre is much better today than it was years ago.
>>
>>3699018
Thanks man. I dont know how the fuck this changed from "how do i change sound files in a ps1 iso" to "haha he likes something i dont like"
The only one who kinda answered was
>>3697747
And even then it's pretty vague.
I might just remake this thread a whole after it dies without mentioning any specific game or music.
I just wish someone would explain how to change audio files on an ISO instead of crying about music.
>>
>>3698824
T. I saw that one video on YouTube and don't realize plunderphonics and modern vaporwave are two totally different things.
>>
>>3698941
That's pretty autistic senpai. How about answering the question instead of spouting buzzwords that people who don't listen to vaporwave think of when someone says they listen to vaporware.
This can literally be done with anything too.
>LE SNESS XD
>SUUUper Mario world!!
>Mode7 XD more like mode 420
Maybe you should consider suicide if you honestly think that criticizing someone's music choice on a retro video game themed Malaysian cloth drawing board is somehow intellectual or makes you le cool
>>
>>3699060
>Plunderphonics is any music made by taking one or more existing audio recordings and altering them in some way to make a new composition.

Yes, I tried watching that one video. Sorry I'm not part of your dank chill movement.
>>
>>3699068
I never said vaporwave was bad in fact i actully like vaporwave, but "hey guyz how do i hack le epic ps1 meme game to play epic vaporwave songs xdd" is proof enough that you need to go >>>/b/ack

>The only one who kinda answered was >>3697747 And even then it's pretty vague

Holy shit that was fucking high school level computer science are you fucking retarded or just typical /v/ermin that came to /vr/ because your /v/ thread 404'd amongst the waves of overwatch and badly disguised furry porn threads?
>>
>>3699273
>>
>>3699512
Huh?
I will admit, your capacity to cram so many buzzwords into one post is admirable
>>
>>3699586
You're still a retard that doesn't know how ISOs work or how music was packaged in retro games. Isn't there a Seinfeld youtube video you need to shitpost in the comments?
>>
>>3699902
i literally dont understand what youre trying to convey. i dont know how to change the files on an ISO, thats why im asking. when i google it, all that shows up are people talking about how you need to know hex and different shit. im sorry i didnt go to your specific highschool where they taught you computer science and apparently, had a class on how to mod ISO sound files. i dont understand the seinfeld thing. is this a forced meme youre trying to push?
how about instead of trying to act like a cool edgy kid you could just tell me how to do this or give me a link.
>>
>>3697094
I was thinking that maybe you could just play the game with the sound turned down, and play a vaporwave playlist on shuffle, on the music player of your choice. Call me crazy but it just might work, "man".
>>
>>3700478
Woaaaah duuuude, i dunno, seems a little crazy to me bruh
>>
>>3700458
not him, but learning how to use a hex editor is pretty basic as far as "computer science" goes. with that said, to answer your original question, no. there is no such tool you can use to just replace music from a ps1/psx iso. it can be done, sure, but why not do what this anon suggested >>3700478 because it would be a hell of a lot easier.
>>
>>3700458
>hex
You're shit at googling then too.

Fucking 7zip can extract individual files out of an iso. Can't put it back together, but it's piss fucking easy to find a program to do that for you. Just google for "make iso from folder" and enjoy your malware.

>>3697948
>They recorded that guitar track to a cd, so it should be easy to change what sound a guitar makes

Holy shit man, go back to school you fucking underaged faggot.

>>3700657 is right.
I'll spoon feed you too, you unbelievably tremendous imbecile.

Changing music in a PS1 game depends on how the game handles music in the first place. For a game like Rayman, with music tracks that you can play in a CD player, it's easy. You just replace the file for the music track with a different CD music file. If you have trouble doing this, then you literally don't deserve to change the music on your game.

That said, CD quality music takes up a shit ton of space on the disc, so most PS1 games opted for sequenced music (think like the roll of paper used in a player piano to tell the piano what notes to hit). As >>3697756 said, if you had any once of reading comprehension, LSD uses sequenced music. You could still replace the file, finding it will be a lot harder, and you'd have to be smart enough to reverse engineer the format and figure out a way to make new music in that format. You're nowhere near that level of intelligence or autism. Most aren't.

Just mute the fucking game and play your shit music.
>>
>>3697094
>>3700673
> For a game like Rayman, with music tracks that you can play in a CD player, it's easy.
Dicksclaimer: If the game does weird stuff with it's code, and looks for the music based off of its location on the disc rather than by the file itself, this won't work. Or if it has any sort of protection based off checking where files are on the disc. Etc.

You're a neanderthal looking at a car and thinking "it's easy to drive, so it must be easy to change the engine". Any solution to this is so far beyond your reach that you're better off just muting the fucking game and playing your audio in another program.

Especially for a game like LSD. There's nothing actually important in the game audio if you're already fine with replacing the music tracks.

And let me make this clear before you whine about your hurt fucking feelings again:
Replacing the audio of a PS1 game is out of most people's reach if it's not a game with CD based audio. You're still a mongoloid for not being able to find this out yourself, but that's not the reason we're telling you to not try.

>>3699585
>Using inspect element to edit pages is hard

>>3699059
>Let's increase the number of dumb threads on this already slow board
Don't bother posting this there now (you've got all the info they would tell you), but maybe if you had posted your question about hacking a retro game to the already existent rom hacking thread people wouldn't be treating you quite as bad.
>>
I just wanted to make a post calling OP a faggot. I don't have an opinion on vaporwave, or people's tastes in music but you really are a shit. Thanks for reading my post
>>
>>3699512
Not even OP, but holy shit. You obviously haven't been to /v/ in a while. Overwatch is mentioned like once a fucking week now.
>>
>>3701109
>you obviously haven't been to /v/ in a while

Is that supposed to be a bad thing? Why don't you go back there and never return "not OP"?
>>
>>3700673
>>They recorded that guitar track to a cd, so it should be easy to change what sound a guitar makes
I was thinking more like they recorded a guitar to a cd so it should be easy to remove the guitar tracks in replace it with a bass track.
Nice strawman though
>>

I don't have the ISO on hand atm to confirm, but I would try jPSXdec.

It's a neat little utility (written in Java, so can run on Windows, Mac, or *nix) that can rip images, videos, and audio from PSX games (can be .iso, .bin, .img, or .mdf). Includes a previewer so you can view things before extracting.

Then, you could take the resulting .xa/.wav/whatevers and convert them to a more convenient format using either Audacity or ffmpeg.

You can get it here: https://kenai.com/projects/jpsxdec/pages/Home
>>
>>3701576
A guitar track by itself? Or in a mix? Are you being vague because you don't know what you're talking about?
>>
>>3701720
OP's not capable of using that program
>>
>>3701406
Can you not be an autistic sperg? Seems like you belong in /v/ honestly.
>>3701720
Thanks man I'll try it now
>>
>>3702138
Why not?
>>
>>3702508
Have fun coming back asking about sequencing and soundfonts.
>>
>>3701576
This is really good, if you did that on purpose. 10/10.
>>
hey since everyone has already shit all over op can i proceed to ask: why replace the already amazing ost with meme genre garbage?

why not just...mute the game? and play the music you like?
>>
>>3697094

Get a 2-channel mixer. They're cheap. Poof, custom music in any game where you can independently mute music.
>>
>>3704413
You don't get the classic sound of the footsteps over the music

Fuck off cunt, try inspect element on clover. OP did nothing wrong.
>>
>>3697756
I second this, fuck off OP
>>
>>3697094
Not really sure why everyone here is being an ass. This sounds kinda interesting. I'd play it. It'd give the game a different feel. Just don't fuck it up if you plan on making this.
>>
>>3707135
If OP doesn't even know what a container file is or that the game used sequenced music as opposed to CD quality audio then i doubt he has the technical skills and ability to actually edit the files to make this mod without completely destroying the game

People are being harsh to him because he's an obvious underagedb& memeposter who uses "aesthetic" as an adjective and probably runs a sub 200 likes "ironic meme" page on facebook
>>
>>3706738
Even if you aren't the OP you're just as bad for enabling his immense faggotry
>>
>>3707160
I can see your point. Even then, he didn't deserve all of the backlash
>>
>>3707160
Dude why are you projecting so hard?
I just wanted to do this damn personal project, sorry.
My fault for saying specific game and music I guess, i didn't know /vr/ was so touchy with music. Also i clearly don't know anything about modding ISOs so why would you get mad at me for not knowing exactly what an ISO is and how to mod one? I didn't know you had to be a damn developer or atleast know computer shit to browse /vr/. When you have a pc and ask somewhere in a forum "how do I change the start up sound in windows and replace it with something," you don't see people yelling at you "haha what a faggot go back to windowsforums you underage kid, how do you NOT know how to change things in an OS do you not even know how windows is coded??"
Shit example but it's the main idea.
I have only modded PC games before so I don't know how ISOs were, I just supposed you changed the files in the folders.
>>
>>3701720
The retarded OP isn't asking how to rip files, anon. This is a ripping utility.
>>
>>3707212
>i clearly don't know anything about modding ISOs

And you clearly have not learned anything from this. But this has to be coordinated bait.
>>
OP maybe you should wait a year and ask again without being so specific. Then maybe these faggots will stop being so autistic about your music taste and technical skills.
