I just played through the game fairly recently, and I think I accumulated more deaths at the beginning of that stage than I did in the entire rest of the game combined. It gets a lot easier once you clear those moving platforms, though.

The other big hurdles I had were that ome boss that you basically fight while inside a giant mouth, and the last mini-boss. I still don't really get how to handle that mini-boss. He's a bit more manageable during the boss rush, but when you first encounter him it feels like the room you're in is too cramped to fight him properly.
