I played it. The game is basically all about snowballing. Just don't lose your big monsters while constantly killing the enemies big monsters and you'll eventually find yourself marching on their last castle with them unable to defend themselves due to mana deficit and lack of good creatures in general. Keep a save from before you defeat the final army in case the last boss is too hard for you, so you can reload and grind a bit.
