Mechwarrior 2
I'm so disappointed in you all...
>>3683274
>Before FROM made AC and DS they made AC+DS
wut.
>>3683312
Armored Core is older but yeah, it could be included as a mutant uncle of DS.
>>3683312
and if you like that

>No mentions of Gungriffon
Come on, /vr/, you can do better than that. Gungriffon is still an amazing game, and was pretty damn ahead of its time. One of the most satisfying games I've ever played.
Also Mechwarrior games
I'm surprised none of the Virtual On games were mentioned.
>>3683243
>that one arena AC with rocket arms that never seems to miss
High quality /m/echa game coming through.

Mechwarrior 2/3 and the PS1 Armored Core games. Muh customization.
>>3683291
It's not even the best 2d mech game on the snes though
>>3683392
>Virtual On
This game shit
>>3683463
as if anyone in this thread actually cares about gameplay.
90% of enjoyment comes from mechs, 10% comes from the gameplay.
>>3683453
this one is far worse though. mind numbing grind and extremely primitive level design, the only good thing about it is graphics and music.
>>3683467
I guess you have never played Master of Arena
It still plays like a dream.
mechwarrior series and
This one... also ranger X is great too
>>3683335
Have you tried the Japanese fan game, High-Macs sim? It's pretty sweet, all in jap but you can manage without knowing it.

why not battle assault 2?
>>3683463
How? Do you dislike the control schemes? Which particular game are you talking about? All of them or only the first one?
>>3684005
who knows
The best.
>>3683453
Banter mission 3 is butter.
All the Darius games
Side Arms Hyper Dyne

KUROGANE NO SHIRO

>best
no its shit
Some game where you clicked to progress. Kind of a puzzle game. You played as a dog (all characters were dogs if I recall correctly; a human world where humans are dogs), and if you went out on the street the dog catcher got you.
It's one of those obscure games from my childhood I never was able to play again or find any references to on Google.

>favourite retro /m/ game
ac3

>but I hate the controls
You get to used to them... sorta.
>>3683243
So I noticed this game is STILL sold today on ebay. There is a seller called bestsku that for some reason seems to have an enormous supply of physical copies of this game. I am aware Sony still prints some of their ps1 games. Perhaps Armored Core Master of Arena is still produced. Don't suppose if anyone else knows of anybody else that still does this?
>>3683428
I've had this downloaded on my pc for at least 2 weeks, I need to play it soon.
>>3683243
I can get this from a nearby store for $20-30. Is it worth it?
>>3687994
That really depends on you.
I've been playing through the ps1 armored core games on mednafen and having a great time.
You can even still import saves between the games by renaming a file.
Beat 1 and Project Phantasma in the last few days. Started on Master of Arena today.
>>3687075
... is that a Sega Saturn on his back? I never noticed that before.
>>3686786
the controls are easy and work great
at least, in the arcade
at home, they're mildly retarded, but easy enough to get used to (actually, since there's less movement involved, it's actually a bit easier, you can jump-cancel really quick and you aren't likely to introduce any accidental turn inputs when on pad)
>>3688065
Yeah, it's great. In-game, they're explained as the "V-Converter" unit that powers the things.
The Oratorio Tangram VRs have Dreamcasts on their backs.
