They do work, but the second you get a functioning disc (assuming whatever scratches were not too deep) you should have been dropping that shit in to your PC to make a backup.

Scart isn't a meme, it's a great format. s/pdif is still one of the best sound cords for general compatibility. Hdmi is kind of garbage though, honestly, too many revisions and incompatibility.
