Hey /vr/, have you played Atari today? Well, you should.

I tried Commando Raid for the first time. This is an excellent shooting game that plays like a more offense oriented Missile Command. Aim your turret and shoot down the planes, as well as the paratroopers they drop. When the troops reach the ground, they'll start to break down your buildings and tunnel underground. If the tunnel reaches your turret, they'll plant a bomb and you're dead.

Plus it takes place at sunset, which is cool.

I haven't, Op, but I would love to play the original hardware in a crt tv again. And Magnavox Odyssey 2. Holy shit the 80's, what a decade to live.

Try Demon Attack on Atari 2600, now that's a challenging shooter.

Not today but I play on a regular basis.

Battlezone and Robot Tank are groovy as fuck. I haven't had as much fun dying since Super Metroid.

Not only do you have to catch ingredients in the right order as they fly across the screen, but you ALSO have to dump the correct burger in the right stack afterwards.

Thunderground is pretty cool. It's like a cross between a tank game and Dig Dug. You have to blow up the bases at the top of the screen to move on to the next stage.

mah nigga.

I personally LOVE turmoil. Such a good game.
>>
>>3682171
And still you even have to bounce back incorrect ingredients.

I still think about the music in this game. Atari 2600 Activision games were so good.

most underrated system among modern gamers

too many people ignore anything before the nes

atari was awesome
>>
>>3685083
It has pretty good color palette for how old it is.
>>
>>3685083
They ignore most everything that isn't Nintendo from that era period. Sad to see Sega almost Atari tier obscure among all the hipster kids now.

I passed on Commando Raid because it was made by Quaker fucking Oats and I assumed it would be shovelware.

It's hard to recommend the 2600 because outside of Activision's games, the games are either not very good or better off played on a different console.
>>
>>3685158
Fuck you nigga, 2600 ports of Space Invaders, Missile Command, and Berzerk are the definitive versions. Best homebrew scene too.
>>
just out of curiosity, how much are 2600 prototypes usually worth?

t. never going to sell them but there is a box of about 30 of em lying around here
>>
>>3685272
Much less than your mom is loosing by not expanding the meth lab into your basement
>>
>>3682062
came here to post this
easily my favorite 2600 games by a country mile

>>3679905
Demon Attack is also pretty brilliant.

>>3685158
This looks neat.
I'm surprised, I haven't played it.

>>3685106
If there's one thing I always loved about the 2600, it's the amount of color it gets on screen in some games.
Atari raster gradients are the best.

of course, this only really worked because you literally had to build the image up line by line, so changing the whole display palette every single line was standard fare rather than advanced trickery for the machine
>>
>>3685272
Depends on the game in question. How popular / rare / historical is it? Or in some cases was it even commercially released? I've seen them go anywhere from under a hundred bucks to pushing 10 grand.
