I'm talking Harvester, Tex Murphy Under a Killing Moon, Commander Blood. Hong Kong 97, etc.
Monster Party. I know they were originally going for a parody deal that got toned down in the released US version, but even then it is a strange, disjointed, and generally surreal game
>>3673990
Weird dreams lives up to its name. It plays like goddamn Dragon's Lair for the NES, though.

Meant to reply to OP and forgot pic. I'm really batting 1.000 today

I know, right? The game was made by a body horror makeup artist, so it just had to end like this.

In Ilinois, there's a funeral home with arcade games and mini golf in the basement. As long as no funerals are going on upstairs, anyone is allowed to come in and play.
>>3677279
Ok, wait a minute. I'm moving to Ilinois.
Found this on HG101. Gaball Screen. Play as a flying shoe and collect CDs
Eastern Mind. I finished and used a guide for only one puzzle, which seemed to require knowledge of Japanese.
Also there's a sequel that I haven't played.
The Sentinel Returns. It's a puzzle game with around 650 levels. Can't find any videos of the ending or 100% ending.
Plays like an adventure game, but more of an interactive story since there's no challenge. Comes across as a feverish nightmare.
>>3678545
>this
Translating the Tong Nou 'alphabet' myself was probably the best part of the game. It didn't require much knowledge of Japanese, you just needed to remember the fact that it's syllabic.

Behold, one of my favourites:
Samurai Zombie Nation.
>You're an angry samurai dismembered head that's like 4m tall and floats
>An alien is turning americans into zombies
>Even the Lady Liberty is his pawn and has a flame sword
>You're angry, because the alien stole an ancient samurai sword
>You are capable of shooting infinite eyeballs like a machinegun and spit vomit-bombs
>You save the USA through destroying its cities and eating the only unzombified survivors for power-ups
>Second boss is a freaking 8m tall half naked old culturist throwing axes
>>3678546
The Sentinel is pretty well known. Didn't know it had a sequel.

Apparently there was a Metropolis license game for the N64 and it ain't even based on the anime.

The theme song is stuck in my head for decades.
Well I just finished Harvester
That was a pretty cool game and not just a good source of weird screenshots after all
>>3683375
Cause Metropolis is an old german movie from the 20's, not an anime.
There's a Osamu Tezuka manga inspired by the german movie title which in turn was adapted to an animated movie.
>>3677130
>That sounds cool as fuck.
Explain how so please, you fedora faggot.
>>3688372
What there's to explain? A church converted into an arcade sounds like a pretty cool concept.

Yeah. I'm kinda glad I've played it before it was famous.

>>3683375
>>3688320
The metropolis anime movie came out in 2001, the game predates it. The idea of a video game based off metropolis or any 20's film is interesting though. Never heard of it, will check out.

This shit, alongside that one Taito beat em' up whose name escapes me.
Pretty unique game, although very simple, you need to make a small blue ball go through a maze, but you control the maze, not the ball (you can make the ball bump a bit though).
The art direction in the game is pretty surreal, and there's a sort of plot involving a goddess or something. Depending on the difficulty you choose, it has different endings.
I completed it on all difficulties years ago, it's like 200 stages or so. Pretty damn addictive. The music is also weird and unsettling, but it gets repetitive because there's only 2 or 3 tracks.
background graphics also repeat a lot, but it's understandable since it has so many levels.
Anyway, this is a must play.

PuLiRuLa?
