As long as the games you're playing are SD; that's perfectly fine and actually what devs intended. Not because devs didn't want people to play games on LCDs, but rather, that's what they were using when making and playing those games, everyone was.

For HD games, you're missing out if you're playing them on CRT. I know because I've played 7th gen stuff on both LCD and CRT, and yeah, you can tell these games were made with 720/1080p on LCDs and it shows. Probably as technology advances, what we now know as HD will become obsolete as well, and people will be hunting down 2010s TVs to play 7th and 8th gens.
