Weird coincidence, just played this for the first time this week. I know everyone shits on it but its fun enough in my opinion. Sure, it lacks the subweapons, the whip downgrades way too fast and it's hard as fuck, but the combat is fine and the level design has some interesting moments, like outrunning a spiked wall that's chasing you, or climbing from rope to rope (a better way to ascend than the fucking stairs in the original). Also jumping isnt anywhere near as hard as people make it out to be, you just have to memorize how far you can go before you fall.

Haven't played the sequel yet, which everyone says its much better, but if you've already gone through every other classicvania Id say this one deserves a go too.

Protip - if you're a eurofag like me grab the konami gb collection 1. It has this game, probotector (contra), gradius and some racing game, all remade in color for the gbc

I went into CV rebirth with no knowledge of the music they'd use, and Reincarnated Soul for stage one hurt just a little bit (nothing against the song, it just isn't BotH) so stage three sent my dick through the goddamn roof

Play it on the Super Gameboy, it doesn't feel as sluggish that way.
