You're not wrong, I remember doing the same even earlier than that. The simple answer is that PJ64 has gotten actively worse as all the decent devs left the project and were replaced with complete hacks. The emulator is held together by toothpicks and gum at this point.

It's a video plugin, google it, download it and put it in the plugins folder. It's easily the best one out there, Conker should be relatively glitch-free without it.

Yeah, it just takes awhile. You have to manually circle around wads or whatever and if you fuck up he'll stop instantly and you'll have to restart. But it's possible.

Just use mupen64plus, it's currently the best N64 emulator. Only time I use a different one is when I need a very specific version of 1964 for banjo tooie.
