Hello anonymous! Prince of persia has always been a good one for me, but I have only ever been able to find it for MS-DOS format, and getting a SVGA or sound blaster card is a nightmare at times.
>>
I enjoyed "Seven Cities of Gold" and "Wilderness"

Some favorites:
Taipan (Avalanche)
Guy is actually playing a browser port of it (which lacks some of the quirks that made the Apple game extra fun.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RI6tiHdKL4c

Axis Assassin (Electronic Arts)
My favorite Tempest clone, probably because its controls was suited more towards joysticks, Tubeway felt designed more for paddles.)

Star Blazer, aka Sky Blazer (Broderbund)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7Sf_dT_yZA

Rescue Raiders (Sir-Tech)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sE11lS8VsfE

Black Magic (Datamost)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xi6ry8vb9r8

Blitzkreig
Not pretty, but lots of fun.

Robotron:2084 (Atarisoft)
Lacked electrodes, but was probably one of the better ports I played

The Bilestoad (Datamost)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWtjiFfvDY8

Sword of Kadash (Penguin)
C64 version, didn't readily see the Apple one posted.

Below the Root. It's a Windham Classics adventure game. Windham Classics made games based on YA books. Below the Root is pretty incredible, and still holds up as a fun game even today. It's my sincere hope that you will give Below the Root a chance and play it as soon as possible.

I also got an apple clone working recently, I'll have to try some of these games out.

My apple II+ doesn't have HGR2 mode or a 65C02, so I can't play it sadly. Maybe I need to upgrade.
