Do you like your CRT monitors curved or flat? Which is better for retro gaming?
I used to prefer flat back when I was a kid, but now I really appreciate rounder ones better, they remind me of arcade cabinets screens.
Curved pretty much in every way except for glare. A curved screen will catch reflections from any light source in the room while flat ones can just be angled away from them and not.

I have this weird ass Polaroid one that has a curved tube but there's a flat pane of glass shielding it. Haven't tried the 240p test suite on it, but I haven't gotten any noticeable distortion out of it, and the screen margins are aligned correctly as well.
I don't like CRTs. I was happy when I moved to TFT.

Good for you, faggot.

I had an RCA Blackstripe with one of those until my shitty power blew it up (before I learned to run all my displays behind UPSs). One nice thing about them is that you can just use relatively inexpensive polarizing film (or matte or w/e you like) on them instead of trying to search down vintage polarizing filters if you want to reduce your glare.

Curved screens are better, less geometry issues.
I prefer flat lg or sony. They have better geometry.

>Flat LG
Their SlimFit models are well known to have horrible geometry. Luckily they were HD only.
I prefer my CRT to be functional.
Curved but the more modern flat ones do have their advantages - less space, better picture in some cases. I wish there was still a company producing CRTs...

lol

If you have a source for "relatively inexpensive" polarising film (preferably in Europe), please do share.
I need some for an unrelated enterprise and all I can find is tiny sheets for phones etc and/or hellishly expensive.

...what?
>>3629201
lol ikr I almost asked that this morning but I decided I didn't even want to know what he's saying. Bait, probably.

I like flat on high-resolution PC monitors, but for TVs and 15kHz computer monitors, curvier is better imo.
>>3629385
What about 24KHz monitors?
>>3629396
Same as 15kHz ones and early 31kHz ones.
>>3629218
It's terrible bait.

The dumpster.
Just picked it up today. Best crt I have ever used.
i live in austin texas and cannot find a CRT to save my life

its weird that everyone wants money for them but they are there https://austin.craigslist.org/search/sss?sort=rel&query=crt

What model is that? I have the 1701.
Flat if it has perfect geometry.
>>3631875
It's an 1802
>>3631778
Hit up a Goodwill or something. Maybe a non-Goodwill thrift store since Goodwill may've stopped carrying them.. There is a Melee Community so the CRTS gotta come from somewhere.
>>3631993
Craigslist as well
I like the convex tubes, keep it period correct.
that curvature of the earth

Yeah that 1311 caught my eye too. Interesting modification done to it.
It'll also take analog RGB through that IDE-looking connector.
loved flat trinitrons until some cunt showed me the wires
for revenge i showed him the DLP rainbow effect
>>3633537
>the wiresThey're in normal Trinitrons too.

You know I actually never thought about getting an old 80's PC display for this shit, might be the perfect solution for my cheap ass that can't afford a PVM. What do you use to hook your shit up though, I was under the impression that those things only have a crappy mono sound.
>>3635798
Just run your audio to something else, anything from a boombox to a home theater receiver.
