Update: I'm on the third level where they introduce quicker enemies- little frog men, jumping skeletons throwing bones, and flying things that take two hits to kill. Having a blast getting my ass handed to me. Thanks for the recommendation!

Uh-huh. IV started development at the same time as Akumajou Densetsu/Dracula's Curse. It wasn't rushed at all, it was one of the early games that better showcased the SNES' graphical capabilities, and I'm not just talking about mode7

Also inb4 slowdowns. Bloodlines has its own share of nasty slowdowns.

Both are great games though, also Rondo. If anyone tells you any of these 3 games is bad, they're memeing/trolling. Dracula X and X68000 (aka Chronicles on Playstation) are also great but somehow underrated or just not as popular as the other 3.

Half the game if not more is a cakewalk. The latter half is probably at best on par with previous games.

Castlevania, Castlevania III, Castlevania Bloodlines, Super Castlevania IV, and Symphony of the Night are the only ones you need. Also check out Rondo of Blood on Virtual Console or through its PSP remake The Dracula X Chronicles, where you can unlock a port of the original game.

Don't play Shitlines. It's terrible and came out for the poor people system.
