Throwing this out there. Metal Slug Advance. Not a bad game, deserves an honorable mention.

Eh, They're both good, but I ultimately prefer X. I prefer the story (ie, aliens arent spoiled) and boss setups of 2, but X has little to no slowdown, and the additional content makes it feel more complete to me.

My favorite port is the Metal Slug Anthology for the PS2. I can't believe how much that shit went up in price over the last few years.

My favorite game would have to be X or 3. Both are just fucking wonderful.

I love the art style of Metal Slug. Really easy on the eyes.

3 is the best, but i think the difficulty -specially the last mission- went too far. 1,2 and X arent that impossible to 1cc, but for 3 you gotta be god or something

Metal Slug 3 & Metal Slug X.

Metal Slug 4. It's not awful to the point of unplayability, but everything's recycled from older games and it feels a tad uninspired.
