It's that time again
Welcome to the Retro Game Gauntlet, gentlemen.
Start at NES, and work through in the following order:
NES
SNES
GB/GBC
Megadrive/Genesis
Turbografx16
DOS
NeoGeo
GBA
Commodore 64
Playstation 1
You have three days to complete the game without assistance (each game gets three days, though RPGs are allowed a week due to length).
Select your system here:
http://s3kr.it/gauntlet.html
You can also do it manually if you don't trust the random number generator:
http://s3kr.it/systems/
Rules:
1) Savestates are allowed ONLY for the purpose of taking screenshots and ONLY if your emulator/game in question does not have a pause function.
2) Rerolls are allowed under the following conditions:
-The game you get requires some sort of hardware functionality that cannot be accurately emulated to complete (eg, Boktai)
-The game would otherwise require cheats, hacks, or alteration of the software to complete due to a bug (eg, Cheetahmen II)
For games that have a high score or no end, the rule is
>if no high score has been established, set a goal and beat it
>if you.re playing something another anon already has a high score on, beat their high score
>if you are playing extended rpgs/pokemon/whatever you get a week (Depending on the game: needs to be asked in thread)
AND BRING ME SCREENSHOTS PARKER

NEW RULES/GUIDELINES TO POSTING IN THE GAUNTLET THREADS:
-Do not post screenshots every other screen, make them few and meaningful
-Do not start a new thread before current one bump limit is exceeded

What am I in for?
Yo, why i never found out about this thread before?

I just want to finish the game i'm currently playing already (Brigandine) and i'm gonna come here select a game.
Never done this before but I always see the thread. Here we go...

I'm not dead, i can only play 1h a day because of my studies but i'm trying as hard as i can to beat the game! I'm still blocked in the 3rd stage, this tunnel is hard as hell!

Well this game is tedious as fuck. I guess I wasn't ready for the gauntlet. Pic is of the map showing the areas I explored. Seems like a cool game exploring the map and the jungle ruins. It doesn't punish you very much for dying, you just start back at the area you died, but you die a LOT and the enemies fuck you up and prevent you from moving. Many of them take way to many hits to kill if you don't have a good weapon too. Overall a pretty neat game but I didn't have the patience for it.
I do like the website for generating a random game for you and I'll definitely try again another day. Good luck everyone.
Starting. Oh god..

Apparently, Spiderman can swing in a 360 motion. This game has some interesting ideas, but the execution is pretty meme.
Fucking MAME Gauntlets keep giving me Mahjong games.
Please do your bet everyone!
I'm still tryharding battletoads, don't give up on me!
>>3616517
Took me a while to get used to the game, but after you do it's pretty quick and easy.
Got to the final boss, not sure what to do yet though and was on my last life.
Patterns are predictable, bosses are reused, and some people can be cheesed easily, but I like it alright.
Took me about 5 minutes to beat lol but it's surprisingly fun and strangely addicting. I always played around with the first level as a kid but that's it. Going back and actually "beating it" was a good time. I was able to go through it 7 times.
Gonna try another NES game later tonight
>>3619507
And that's that, the second I got back to the final boss I found a simple and abusable pattern to do him in.
It was a short but charming game, though flawed.
Time to move on up.
>>3619735
Will start SNES game tomorrow, not even going to download the rom until then.
>>3619745
kek
Have fun getting a new game in three days
bumped from the brink of death
This sounds fun, hope this goes well
>>3621695
What the fuck is this shitty ass game?
this should be good.
>>3621719
too much exploration/leveling up etc. i enjoy more arcade-like experience, will give it another try tomorrow, maybe it will suck me in.
Fucking NES games.
I SWEAR TO GOD I'M GOING TO KILL MYSELF, THIS TURBO TUNNEL IS FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE
Can I reroll? It's literally fucking chess.
>>3622493
This runs on the honor system. Violate it if you want.
Let's do this. I've never even heard of this game
Sounds hard
>>3622653
Don't forget to prep that black bull
>>3622561
After a cool driving level this just became a worse version of Ninja Gaiden. On to stage 3
>>3622475
TRY THE JAP VERSION, IT'S NOT AS BRUTALLY HARD
>welp
>>3617305
You need to dodge the taller walls, you won't get much far if you keep trying to jump over them.
>>3619745
Thanks guys...
Can I reroll?
>>3625896
no you can't rerollI can't vouch for that game specifically but I happen to own Disney Princesses GBA and it's not bad
>>3625902
fun fact, there are three GBA barbie games which were made by WayForward
Playin some Family Feud. Made bank on cities in Texas but I let the Carsons steal all my good answers for "name a state where cotton is grown"
>>3617305
>you can jump over the taller walls
i had no idea.
