Also I wish it could've used some more advanced graphics effects, for example the fogging from Sonic R or the real time lightning from Fighting Vipers. The lightning seems to be pre-baked into every scene.

Well I first played it in 2006 via emulation and it was perfect from beginning to end, so I'd say it emulates well.
