Ghost in the Shell for the PlayStation is one of the best tank games ever, and it's not even a tank game.

There is a NAMCO arcade tank game with their version of Mode 7 graphics. I think it's called Assault, or Assault Plus or something. All I remember is that it was on one of the old PS1 NAMCO museums back in the day.

Not to mention that global assault actually has a really good story and strategic gameplay that has aged very well. Plus you get to blow up the Eiffel tower and white house and stuff.

I played the demo. It's... unusual to say the least. Actually my main problem was that the controlls are difficult. So if you're good at coordination, it might actually be a pretty great experience.

Armored Fist 3
Not as good as M1 Tank Platoon even though they are years apart, but good for a single run.
