Why the fuck is this acceptable? Why are they charging $20 for Mario/Duck Hunt? They literally came packaged with the console, and they have seven copies.
>>
Well obviously it's not acceptable, OP, because they're clearly not selling at that price.
>>
>>3604701
Not OP, but are you making a joke about it being 1 cent off from $20?
>>
Start high sell lower is how I see it whenever going into a retro shop. Money talks and with 7 copies you're safe to make a offer they won't refuse. They price it at $20 for any suckers that want to pay $20 for it.
>>
>>3604723
No joke, sir. I'm just noting how I see seven unsold copies of SMB/DH on that shelf. I'm pointing out that just because something is listed for an extravagant price, doesn't mean it actually sells.

Which label is rarer? Which is older? I would assume the "Seal Of Quality" label on the left is newer.
>>
>>3604748

The one on the right is a repro. Call the Nintendo police on them.
>>
>>3604754
They have a few copies of each one. I've seen both of them out in the wild. Maybe one was the re-release when the top loading NES came out?
>>
>>3604748
The one on the right is indeed older, though it's moot to worry about rarity because there's tens of millions of copies of that game.
>>
>tfw always the only one with the SMB/DH/World Class Track Meet cart.

I don't even think it's rare since it came with the action set but no one ever has it.
>>
>>3604787
I own one. Will post a picture when I get home. I'm at the store right now. I used to have two variants of it.
>>
>>3604794
>I'm at the store right now.
A game store? Or just a store...

>two variants
Didn't know there were 2.
>>
>>3604797
I was at the game store. Now, I'm at a different store.

In one variant, Mario is wearing a white jumpsuit with red underneath. In the other, he is wearing red with white underneath. One has a seal of quality. One does not.
>>
>>3604801
Aww shucks. I was going to ask you to post their old games for sale. Just checked my cart and it's the one with mario wearing a white jumpsuit with red underneath.
>>
>>3604815
I'm not sure which variant I sold and which one I still own.

Should i just give up, destroy the tabs on my Super Nintendo and start importing Japanese versions of the games? Im sick of those inflated prices.
>>
>>3604843
By a super famicom, nerd. Don't destroy a good SNES.

20 bucks for a game that is literally in ridiculous supply, to the point where more working copies are in circulation than actual working NES?

And stupid fuckheads still don't believe the market is cancerous.
>>
>>3604849

a SNES with no tabs can play SNES and SFC games. A SFC can only play SFC games.
>>
>>3604843
Yes, also fuck what the other autist said about destroying it, the tabs are on the inside, it's still going to look and function exactly the same
>>
>>3604849
>destroy
You are improving it.

Nice. Here's mine that I've had for almost 26 years. Learn something new everyday.

I feel like I'm watching an episode of Always Sunny ITT. Jesus Chist guys you just rob the store holy shit. OP, grab a gun and we'll settle this shit with the clerk for $4.
>>
>>3604872
Calm down DB. No need to go full retard now.
>>
>>3604872
>$4
For SMB/DH? That cart's a dime a dozen.

I think the best way is to snap them off with needle nose plier, then use a sharp chisel to remove what's left.
>>
>>3604874
>>3604875
>>3604876
Chill, here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna throw a beef, beer and jesus party for OP ITT and get the fat fuck his cart alright? Who's got an extra? Don't be a jew.
>>
>>3604904
Are you implying OP doesn't already own the cart and was just stating that prices are stupid as fuck these days.
>>
>>3604857

A SNES with no tabs can play either SNES or SFC games, until you make even the slightest of movements and the game freezes.
>>
>>3604857
Technically, a SFC can play US SNES games. It's just that the cartridges won't fit in the system with out modifying the cartridge slot or putting the game PCB in a different shell.
>>
>>3604861
This. You are in no way changing the way the console functions other than allowing it to play MORE games, the change can only be seen if you're looking inside the cartridge slot with no game inserted, and probably about 99% of people would never even bother to check and see if the tabs were still there. There is really no reason not to clip the tabs, unless you're more worried about "muh collectors value" than you are about playing games. And even then, what game shop owner is going to look at an SNES and say "hmm, this SNES functions just fine and actually plays super famicom games too, I'm not going to be able to give you what I would normally give someone for a super Nintendo though because it's damaged". Actually scratch that, those fuckers will try to find any reason to give someone less money. But then he would no doubt sell the modded SNES for more than one that still has its tabs.
>>
>>3604849
>two little molded in tabs inside the cartridge port which fill zero function besides making sure a Japanese cartridge won't fit
There is literally no loss from grinding and sanding them out.
>>
>>3604861
>>3606452
>>3606691
Removing the tabs of an SNES won't make it look anywhere near as sexy as the SFC.

That's why I bought an SFC.
>>
>>3604697
I wonder how much Dragon Warrior is selling for. NP was giving it away for free once.
>>
>>3606706
but it can't play snes carts
deal breaker I'm afraid.
>>
>>3606708
who?
>>
>>3606716
Nintendo Power.
>>
>>3606714
It can if you remove them from the case, and super EverDrives are like $50. Not to mention that SFC games are cheaper and sexier.
>>
>>3604697
Because people will buy it.

>>
>>3606818
I know, not a real suggestion. The SNES is just too ugly 4 me.
>>
>>3606714
>but it can't play snes carts
I have an SNES.

Why would I want my SFC to play SNES carts?
>>
>>3606906
If you have a SNES, why get a SFC? Not judging or anything, just curious.
>>
>>3606906
to avoid U$ retro inflation
>>
>>3604697
>Crying about prices thread.
>Not full of babies complaining they can't afford things.

Maybe /vr is actually getting better.
>>
>>3606925
Because I didn't want to pull the tabs from my SNES and make it ugly on the inside and because the SFC is sexy as fuck.

>>3606930
If you want to avoid US retro inflation, why would you want to play US carts?
>>
>>3606958
get the inflated us carts in sufami versions (mainly ones that you can pay without knowing a lick of jap) and get the rest that haven't been affected in english
>>
>>3604843
>>3604849
>>3604929
>>3606706

Calling it, in a few years SFC carts will have become almost as expensive as SNES because most people will have gone the JP way. Some games are already on the rise over there and it will only get worse over there, even with the current differences. Just get a flashcart if you want to play games on a SNES, you've got more choices and it'll be cheaper on the long run.
