I never enjoyed ports with no significant improvements. I just prefer to play them on the original thing. The GBA does have the advantage of being portable though.

GBA didn't have blast processing or an FM synth sound chip.

GBA had far more BURASUTO PURASASSIN than the Genesis, the port was just trash because Sega lost their original code for Sonic 1, had to do it from scratch, and did a horrible job at it. It might have been outsourced and not even done in-house, not sure.
