It was exclusive for a very long time made especially for the PSX hardware, so it counts.

Still fun, and it has a great soundtrack. But yeah, it looks terrible.

I've been enjoying pic related. I used to think it sucked, but I've been converted. I never really gave it a proper evaluation.

I want them to make this into a virtual reality game, I don't even mean new graphics, I want this game as is with full VR support.
You just heard Eddy's theme, didn't you?
Bumpulations
PSX really had no good exclusives. All of it's best games were available on better systems with superior hardware.
What little it did have has aged like shit.
PSX polys are a fucking eyesore.

Actually i'm going to stop this list a bit early to skip to the ad-hominem step. You're a faggot millennial who has no clue what the fuck he's talking about. Now that the ad-hominem is over I will eagerly await your reply, and then not read it and ignore the rest of this thread.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as PSX, is in fact, "PlayStation", or as I've recently taken to calling it, PS1.
Crash Bandicoot 1 and 2, the best looking 3D games of the 90's.

I do. It was more or less just a European thing. There were so many bizarre and creepy games. Most weren't particularly good, but it's fun seeing what people made in small amateur teams back then.

That company was so based. It deserves the dicksucking that Treasure gets all the time here.
Omega Boost is a killer that's super playable today and is just a breath of fresh air. It's a crazy 3D rail shooter with a very arcade esque feel and eastern difficulty curve. Crazy licensed techno soundtrack too. Super fun to sit down for an hour and just get lost in, trying to beat your high score. Almost 1CC it the other day and died on the final fucking boss. Maybe one day.

>>3607248
With another person it is not bad. Still seems slightly uneven with difficulty and what kills you still doesn't make sense. Feels older than PSX with the style and how it controls.
I beat it near release, then again two years ago or so. With a friend the entire game through, then we spent an hour going against the AI in the proving ground mode.
I would post Twisted Metal 2, but it was on Windows a year later.
Probably SmackDown 2: Know Your Role.
Not even a big wrasslin fan. The first few PS and PS2 wwf/wwe games were just outrageous in their fightan and story modes. Jumping 40 feet down onto a guy laying on a table that is placed on another table... insanity.
>>3604636
I would like to point out the games you listed are games that could have been on a SNES-like system, vs a 3d capable system.
Really not showcasing the 3d 'battle' that Sony, Nintendo and Sega were going for. Which really Sony did lose.

>Really not showcasing the 3d 'battle'
Nice argument to fabricate out of nowhere
The topic of this discussion is:
>What little it did have has aged like shit.
>which sony did lose
Don't give a fuck about your console warring bullshit >>>/v/
>What little it did have has aged like shit.
reminds all saturn exclusives
>>3608771
Telling people to go to /v/ when you have no argument. I think you might be from reddit.
Remember that Sony couldn't even beat Neo Geo at 2d, and couldn't do 3d better than the 64. It was shit at everything except mass producing shovelware.

Technically, anything but "PlayStation(TM)" is officially wrong, but "PSX" was almost always the abbreviation used in print back then. It's on the most popular gaming news site of its day, in a million gaming mag articles and ads, and on the backs of PlayStation(TM) games. If it's not official, it's definitely acceptable.
>>3609064
The zeitgeist was what it was. Your bullshit revisionist history doesn't change the fact that a whole lot of people called it the PSX in the US.
>>3609074
The logo is "PS", literally.
The abbreviation was always "PS" in Japan, PSX was only used in the west.
And the only game that had "PSX" seems to be that Midway compilation. The PS games I have only have the PS logo and PlayStation(tm).
Again, I don't have anything against calling it PSX, I do remember magazines back in the day abbreviating it like that, but there is no legitimacy to it whatsoever. It was just a western media misconception.
>>3609078
>bullshit revisionist history
?
>doesn't change the fact that a whole lot of people called it the PSX in the US.
I never implied anything of the like. I just said it's not official, so it doesn't matter if you post the back of a Midway game or a post by some guy on usenet. Call it PSX, I don't care, just don't pretend others to believe it was an official term, because THAT would be bullshit history revisionism.

Soul Reaver has better music (really go listen to the soundtrack), atmosphere, story, voice acting, puzzles, and game mechanics. OOT is great and all but Soul Reaver is better in every way. Best PSX game!

Sorry, reposting an old picture, there are a few that got ports. There's so many good games on the Playstation. Strangely, I've gotten less and less for each successive Playstation system.

>>3609395
Off topic, but you are weird as hell. You could be a very well balanced individual but the fact that you set up a photo, write a note, custom title the pic, and then (usually) write a small blog as a post is just strange to me. But, hey, keep doing it if it makes you feel good.
Anyway, back to the regularly scheduled PSX thread.

>>3609395
I only know Gradius Gaiden from your collection. . Nice post thanks.
>>3609737
No, the sealed game is Mezase Senkyuu-ou (a.k.a. Battle Balls). I opened Rakugaki Showtime to play it back when it came out, I just happened to keep its original cellophane (the spine card is behind the manual). Battle Balls was an amazing game set to free play at a local arcade, and it was only $10 sealed. Rakugaki Showtime, sadly, we only played 2-player because we didn't have the 4-player adapter at the time.
>>3609754
Nope, far from a well balanced individual. Poor as fuck and on 4-chan. I'm just hungry for (You)s and taking advantage of the image part of an image board.
>>3609797
As mentioned it is a repost of an older pic I took for a different thread. I try to repurpose some older pictures for convenience sake. So here's one I just took, which sadly I have no US Playstation game which has not been rereleased, ported, and/or exclusive ... aside from Thousand Arms.

I like you buddy. You've got lots of great stuff and your posts always generate on-topic (aka retro vidya) discussion.
>I opened Rakugaki Showtime to play it back when it came out, I just happened to keep its original cellophane (the spine card is behind the manual).
Gotcha, didn't look carefully enough.
You got the game back when it came out? I remember reading the game was hard to come by even in Japan, maybe it was an exaggeration but I know the game was eventually discontinued.
I only played it thanks to the magic of CD-Rs and Matrix chip, and single-player only.
>>3609851
Wow! I even have an old picture ready for this ... Yep, I got Rakugaki Showtime (and N64 Bangaio) because I read about them in this magazine. I can remember ordering Rakugaki from NCS, never followed its rarity, it was just a unique looking game and is like the Power Stone games on Dreamcast & PSP.

First PSX game to use the Dualshock. It had rumble and analog which were already on the N64 at the time. Still an alright game when you consider it was a kids game.

I think you meant to post Ridge Racer.

I've been playing KF too. Found the shiden recently and now I'm wrecking shit. Also got the elf's key, where the fuck do I use it?
But yeah, KF is 10/10. So fucking immersive. I think I'll end up playing the whole series.
