Just found this fucking awesome game, I used to play Ikari Warriors on my dad's old computer when I was a kid and this is a great find. But when my wife and I were playing only the 2nd player could continue? Is this a glitch?

I'm glad someone else loves this game.
It was the first video game I ever played and it took me years to find it again. It's not a glitch on your end, by the way: in 2P the infinite continues are wonky at times.

Oh it seems I had to hit A+B at both times? It was weird, only 2nd player would respawn..
Isn't it A,B,B,A to continue in a 2 player game?

Aw, shit, my man! I used to play through this co-op with my brother back in the day.
I wish I could play it again on a real arcade cabinet though. Puts the NES version to shame because the joystick was eight-directional rotation which allowed for strafing. Just can't replicate that on a console port, or even in emulation.
Recommending pic related.

Guerrilla War is seriously underrated. Still lots of fun to this day.

>underrated
By who? It was extremely popular and highly-rated back in the day.

It was forgotten outside of its era, unlike similar titles like Ikari Warriors.

Glitch?
Let me tell you about glitches in MY version of Guerilla War!
Sometimes, for no apparent reason, game crashes. Nothing unusual, right?
Well, listen what happens next!
It doesn't freeze, it doesn't reset to title screen.
No.
It starts some kind of primitive minigame.
You are at the bottom of the screen, walking left and right and shoot at blue(?) ninja-looking people falling from the top towards you.
Endlessly.
Background looks like some kind of sewers.
Chits creepy as fuck.
Take into consideration that its a bootleg famicom cartridge, but still.
Also, it happens almost always when playing at my old console and rarely/never at newer one. I blame connectors on that one.
