How do you tighten a loose analog stick?

To prevent it from loosening again which lube to use and how to apply it?

What is the best replacement stick if the original is too far gone?

What technology does the N64 analog stick use?
What technology do 3rd party sticks and other console analog sticks use?
Advantages/disadvantages? Are there any other technologies that analog sticks could possibly use?

Aside from the Hori pad, are there any 3rd party controllers that equal or exceed the originals?

Are they any games that are incompatible with the memory expansion pak (have to put back the jumper pak to play)?

Do the translucent models of N64 also have translucent power bricks?

Friendly reminder that the N64 wasn't actually stronger graphically (let alone audially) than the PSone, it just was puched beyond it's limits by Nincucko.
NshitT4 software usually chugged at 20 frames per scanline while PSone games ran in an ideal 30fps.

Hey wait a minute. That doesn't seem friendly at all - in fact it seems rather malicious!

Steel sticks when?
>>
Short answer: there are no good replacements available right now. There are only cheap replacements.

Longer answer: You can get a similar style replacement or a GameCube style replacement. Both can easily be located on Amazon or eBay for very little money. In every single case, the stick motion will feel very poor and/or have poor sensitivity.

It seems the only worthwhile stick replacements are still being developed. Enkko and Steelsticks64 are still working to produce their own OEM-perfect solution, but aren't available for purchase yet. In both cases they are focusing on bowl and stick replacements, where the majority of faults show up, as well as the gears, as opposed to full joystick box replacements. Neither have a final ETA but Enkko did open preorders a while ago for estimated delivery in December for only stick/bowl. We must just remain patient.

Some people have found success with refurbishing their current sticks, and you can find a variety of poorly-lit, badly demonstrated videos on YouTube. If you're good with your hands and want a DIY solution you can give it a stab

Thank you I am going to boycott Nintendo now. #MAGA

Never. You will be forced to watch repeating tweets of the same guy showing off his prototypes until the end of time

What's "the German replacement" I see posted every once and awhile?
>>
>>3598478
I've personally replaced all mine with Gamecube controllers and adapters. I'd love to repair my old controllers but I've yet to find third party replacements that work well, as another anon said. I did buy some knockoff Cirkas and greased the sticks with a small amount of WD-40 and they work pretty well but I'm doubtful that it's a suitable lubricant, haha.
>>
>>3599507
I can honestly say I've never heard of that before. Do you have any more context?

We don't need to die to reach Hell, for it is already here on Earth.
>>
>>3599521
That's because WD-40 is not a lubricant it's a solvent so yeah it may work for a second but after a few minutes it will likely be even worse than it was before as it has broken down what little lubricant was there.

A lot of people will say lithium grease but not all lithium grease is the same and some may have an effect on the plastic. I prefer to use Silicone grease.

hahaha even starfox for the snes doesn't look as horrible as this.

I bought some chips programmed to make the gamecube style replacement function similar to an actual n64 stick. It was a simple solder job. I believe the dude that programmed them was german. Forgot what forum he was on and all the details. Hope that helps a little bit.
>>
>>3601060
me again. I actually kind of need to know the details because I forgot how to calibrate the sticks. I have two that aren't yet installed.

This was very helpful, thank you. I'll try silicone grease.

It's loose because the plastic inside has grinded away due to lack of grease ,you can clean them out and regrease them but it will still be loose
