I've never been crazy about Space Harrier but Burning Force is the shit. Biggest difference is Space Harrier got a good port and Burning Force got choppy garbage, the arcade original is real good.

I loved the sort of "let's do what Sega does but slightly different" thing Namco had going on.
it makes sense to imitate the best
it's a fucking shame that Sega hasn't been best anything in like twelve years now
it's a fucking shame that Namco has just been kind of lazing around as a dev now

the only thing I didn't like was how Namco just gave the fuck up and used cheap-ass PS1 shit boards in the arcade from 1994 onward while Sega was busy throwing the most powerful hardware they could get their hands on into machines until they finally just stopped and said, "fuck it, let's just put a DC in a cab and call it a day"

so the Sega games just straight up looked better
sure, Time Crisis got Namco's good arcade boards, but that's it
