Wasn't it 320 x 240? Or 320 x 224? I know for sure it wasn't 256 for a horizontal resolution.
>>
that is AWESOME. I will be picking one up for sure.
>>
>>3593120
320x224 according to google
>>
Mega Drive/Genesis is the Brazilian Dendy.

But while most russians know Dendy is shit, Brazilians praise every Genesis overpriced re-release and buy every piece of crap in the name of "nostalgia", even though they never really stopped playing Genesis. Brazil is hell.

I want out this country.
>>
>>3593171
How well did Crazy Bus sell there?
>>
>>3593120
width is 256 or 320 pixels and software selectable.

amount of lines is 224, 240, 448 or 480, also selectable. 448/480 is interlaced, and 240/480 is available on PAL units only.

So for most games, 320x224, but then you have the special stages in Sonic 2 (256x224), or the 2 player mode in Sonic 2 (320x448), or games which take advantage of PAL modes like Streets of Rage 1-2-3 or Strider (320x240).
>>
>>3593171
Isn't that because a PS4 costs like $3000 over there, due to ridiculous taxes on imported electronics?
>>
>>3593107
it's like they took the drawbacks of the nes mini and fixed them, and then made a new, separate set of drawbacks.

this thing is twice the price of a used genesis and a flash cart yet offers less features. why in the world is there no hdmi in the next current year?
>>
>>3593171

>I want out this country
Boo-hoo, mr. superior.

Most of the re-releases that came after the original licensed Mega Drive/Genesis from TecToy were cheap emulation crap indeed, but unlike your false claims, they were far from famous and successful, mostly capitalizing on young children and families who can't afford bigger consoles for their kids. The percentage of adults or teens who buy these due to nostalgia or collecting is very small. You're trying to paint a worst scenario than it actually is.

>>3593189

After the hype was over, and people started using their brain, the prices went way down, with only a few stores charging such values (mostly due to contracting and licensing). Most people buy their consoles online through national gaming e-stores that import the consoles, and are therefore able to charge a better price. It's not like every family will own one, but any working man who prioritize gaming is able to buy any console they want.

You see FullHD 50" screens in favelas in Rio, so it's not like people dwell in the forest with CRT's and Dendy-like consoles. It's all about priorities, like anywhere in the world.

there was another rumor last week that games would be sold on sd cards individually, at least in huehueland. there may not be a file browser if your plan is to dump a complete rom set on there.
>>

Since Tectoy was the manufacturer for the original Sega MD, couldn't they produce a legit one?
>>
>>3593171
>most russians know Dendy is shit
nope, they are very fond of it
>Brazilians praise every Genesis overpriced re-release and buy every piece of crap in the name of "nostalgia"
retards here are willing to buy chink "dendy" cartridges for around the same price as legit NES games on e-bay/amazon, but considering the wages are far lower than in the west, the prices are ridiculous.
>>
>>3593107
If it'll work with Sega CD and such, it should be okay.

If it doesn't, maybe some people could hack a few sega CD games to play off the SD card? Hah, that would be a bit much to hope for, though it would also lead to sega CD games being playable off flashcarts.

It would have been cool for them to include a sega CD game. Or at least to offload some of the bundled games on a 7-in-1 or somesuch cart, neatening the selection screen and making that tradeable.
>>
The price is absurd. I'd buy one for $60 max and it'd have to be able to play downloaded games from the SD card.
>>

Who says it can't?

You could probably get a legit Genesis, ED X3, And a hd retrovision cable for about the same.

does it have a good sound chip?
and can it save with games that let you save.

>>
>>3594471
>can it save with games that let you save?
The save chip is on the cartridge, so obviously can.
>>
>>3594582
I think anon means when loading ROMs from SD...
>>
no RGB = no interest

hopefully SEGA will release some limited edition MD in the future, i know they wont, but let me have my dreams and illusions...
>>
>>3594469
On one side, I meant hacking a CD game to make it playable as a genesis rom, the biggest expectable challenge to which would be the stuff responsible for cartridge size limits, and even the SNES has a workaround expansion chip available for that. The least odorous way to do that would probably be to just hack a cartridge game that has a similar sega CD game and bolt on content from that, like hacking Lotus II-the Ultimate Challenge and adding bits of Jaguar XJ220 onto it.

And how do you know it won't be there? Maybe they found a way to simplify and refine aspects of the genesis to make it capable of interfacing with a more efficient new sega CD? And maybe they've built in a way to release sega CD games for that SD card slot, with only limited game editing required?
>>
>>3595069
man, you are asking a lot of some poor brazilian clone console manufacturers. there may be some limits with the hardware we don't know about, but now that you compare it to MSU-1 it doesn't sound impossible. if features like this were feasible I would expect them to be found by one of the flash cart developers long before Atgames. If only there was a byuu/ikari equivalent who focused on sega shit- well that would probably be krikzz, but the best his $160 cart can do is save your CD games' sram if your sega CD's battery has died.

>And how do you know it won't be there?
I don't, but look at it this way. there isn't a single mention about the new system being compatible with any existing sega cd / 32x hardware or games in the first place, let alone an overhaul to allow loading CD games from an SD card. preorders are open and the price has been set. if they did this, they would be advertising it as a feature, and if they work on this up until release it would add cost or at least justify a price hike.
>>
>>3594690
Oh, so... t-the save keeps on the SD?
>>
>Firecore Genesis ”5”
>Now with authentic retro looking case
Wow it's fucking nothing
>>
>>3595123
It's not all things about tectoy, I was also implying likely MSU-1 parallels of more direct sorts. This is somewhat of a reason for that, if they do keep on making new Mega Drives with modest refinements, if this kinda takes of and they make another limited-ish edition.

All Tectoy would have to do is extend the maximum card/cartridge size, and add PCM sound channels and maybe a bit more, assuming they could secure access to the properties of any worthwhile sega CD games, then they could backport them into ordinary genesis games with limited effort.

They could try and exporting it to Argentina and Spain, then England and Australia and maybe France. I'd guess this would work particularly well if they ended up with some sort of useful partner in the UK.
>>
No RGB, not even worthy of consideration.
>>
>>3595069
>the biggest expectable challenge to which would be the stuff responsible for cartridge size limits
No. The biggest challenge would be supporting the extra chips and coprocessor functions the Sega CD features. It actually brings stuff to the table - it's not just a dumb storage device like the SNES CD was.
>>
>>3593107
Lol at those Brazilians complaining about R$400 price tag. Any used console is almost at this price, just look on MercadoLivre.
>>
>>3595326
I was talking about converting a sega CD game into a genesis game. Not the library as a whole. Not a perfect translation either.

Tectoy, at least back in the day when Sega set up shop in Manaos, used to use legit parts, Mostly VA6s or PAL VA5s.

Frankly, I doubt that this new iteration is gonna use original hardware, given that Firecores and shitty emus exist and are much cheaper than discrete systems... but maybe... JUST MAYBE...

nah who am I kidding they're gonna fuck this up

This argument is so retarded, nothing about leaving the country implies the person thinks they're superior, are you so insecure about your own country and yourself you must shame everyone who'd rather immigrate? If you really thought lowly of them you'd be thinking "good riddance" instead. This kind of attitude only makes you look salty as fuck, like you know something but you have to act another way due to societal pressures, something like a cognitive dissonance.

PAL-M is close to NTSC but the colour subcarrier is slightly different (the frequency is a bit lower). I have no idea how TVs from the rest of the world would handle it.

I don't see PAL-M tv's since 2002ish nor frequency selection for that matter since at least after flat screen CRTs.

It seems so damn complicated and confusing, they should just remake the terradrive and make it capable of outputting to elegantly standardised VGA ... to be fucking SAFE!

With today's technology, they could easily put a terradrive into a classic genesis case.
>>
>>3595820
/thread
>>
>>3595820
>>3596370
>New technology is identical to old technology except smaller and cheaper
Yeah no. Genesis is likely to be the next console to be reproduced in FPGA like the AVS though so just wait for that. If TecToy were smart they'd have done it themselves with this MD5 and launched it on the wave of the AVS but nobody ever said TecToy was smart or exactly ambitious either. They just keep cranking out Mega Drives for domestic consumption and benefitting from the very high import taxes making newer consoles prohibitively expensive for the middle class.
>>
>>3596376
SBC craze? Pre-athlon level computers indeed are cheap. It would be quite easy to stick something like that in and call it a terra drive.

Though it would be more complicated getting cross video output with the VGA working for the genesis side.
>>
>>3597210
If you just want to solder an 8088 and a Genesis together then slap a frame meister on it nobody's stopping you.
>>
>>3595804
The brazilian is asking for the source of the info that BR uses Pal-m.
>>
>>3596376
>Genesis is likely to be the next console to be reproduced in FPGA like the AVS though so just wait for that.

That's extremely unlikely; it's a pretty complex machine compared to the NES (which is simple to the point that it hurts). I'm not even sure if we have enough information on the 68k for it to be possible to make a 100% accurate FPGA implementation, due to it being microcode based and the exact timings being unknown.
And on top of that you have the Z80, two sound chips, a VDP, and various bus arbiters.

About the only way I'd see that possible was if someone decapped and made photos of the 315-6123.
>>
>>3597748
Yeah, I'd wager that if the 68K was that well known, an enhanced version of it would be
made for the likes of: >>3595548

A chip that's merely 68k architecture compatible, made for applications where a 68000 or a 68020 or a 68030 may be used must be easier to replace than a chip that has to mimic quite specific behaviour of the 68000.

But instead, what they apparently use is an unusually still available (50mhz) 68SEC000. Which I'm under the belief would never work in a Genesis clone.
