My cousin used to say "Smash Bros" when he was young. I put a stop to that shit immediately.

I've said "Seh-guh" my whole life but "say-guh" is technically correct, that's how the voice samples at the beginning of the Sonic games pronounce it, and how it would be pronounced in Japanese.

I think what that anon was saying is that grandparents pronounce the name as "mare-ee-oh" when talking about the character even though they otherwise pronounce it as "mahr-ee-oh".
>>3589516
Just say it like Mario himself does when he says "It's a me, Mario!"
>>3596676
He has an Italian accent. The common pronunciation is Mar-ree-yo, what he says sounds more like Mah-ri-yo. Try saying Paper Mahrio and Super Mahrio 64 consistently during conversation, it'll sound silly and grow tiresome after a while. It only works when the character himself says it during commercial promos and intros or whatnot. Normies who don't give a shit about Mario let alone video games in general erroneously pronounce it as Mare-ree-yo. They tend to be ultra North American conservatives.
