I understand that, but frankly clubs are too awkward since they're generally in person, in my opinion. Furthermore, most of the games I play are singleplayer, which is why joining a steam group didn't work out for me since they usually go off-topic and talk about other more uncomfortable things or they don't talk/die.

I feel like I'm blogging and spouting excuses so I might stop responding, but I wasn't really aiming to gather responses or advice. I had just wanted to say that I'll definitely miss this place and will probably keep things to myself for a while until I find a new suitable chan as an alternative. I didn't even start adblocking until a major adserver gave viruses out to every visitor of a couple very popular web pages a few years back. I spent days getting my computer back to normal and swore off ads forever after that.

It is the responsibility of adserver vendors to vet the ads that come through their network to make sure they're safe. Obviously, they are too lazy to do that. So I take it into my own hands because I can learn from my past experiences.

You know you can just install ms security essentials for free, and there are browser plugins that marks possibly harmful content with a red dot. Even with this I've never detected a virus because I know how to identify what harmful things look like. Just don't klick it.

I've spent at least 6 years on streaming sites with crappy ads worse than these and never even seen a virus. The times I did get them was when I intentionally downloaded and installed something without doing a virus check on the file. You'd have to be extremely careless to get a virus.

4chan used to not have a catalog view. You'd only get a like 10 threads with the first post and 5 latest post and there are 10 pages like that (actual # of pages may depend on board). On fast boards, you'd have to open multiple pages because if you were to time your time and open up threads one at a time, by the time you move on to the next page, you may see the same threads or you may never see certain ones.

Catalog eliminates that and just lets you see everything at once. Made browsing easier

I lurked around many places early on in the 2000's as a child. Eventually in 2005 I became aware of 4chins but was too chicken shit for it. I continued to lurk from site to site never having a true home.

Then at the start of 2015 I took the plunge. It wasn't anything revolutionary, nor do I see loads of quality. But I can see what it once was and I appreciate that. I'm a newfag only coming up on my 2 year anniversary, but this place does feel as home.
