I have chink MD everdrive and the comparison is accurate(assuming you get/have one that actually works). The only thing chink one has over x3 is SMS pause button, but not all clones has that.

I've seen this chart but I have wondered how biased it is. There is a really cheap chinese Mega EverDrive that's like $20 and a better one that's like $50. I assumed that the $50 one was on par with the more expensive Mega ED but I really don't know.

Besides lower quality, does the Chinese Super Everdrive perform the same as the official one? I bought my Famicom N8 straight from Krikzz when that came out, but I'm having trouble justifying paying over $100 again if I can get away with the bootleg. I'm assuming it doesn't have DSP support?

no dsp support. the pcbs the chinks use are also a little thicker and can wear out the cart slot. Poor quality control means a higher chance of getting a dud and waiting forever for a replacement from china if you get one at all.

It's worth it imo, it's a one time purchase, $110 isn't bad for peace of mind. If you're going cheap a super ufo is a decent choice as you can use it to change batteries in games without losing saves. but they are pretty archaic.

As someone who plays mostly on gba, I can't believe everdrives are the standard for other consoles. ED advance is 100 fucking dollars and isn't even flush in the gba slot. I'll stick to my ez4 deluxe.

Krikzz mentioned in his forum somewhere that he allows one of the manufacturers to sell the China version. He said it's based on the same schematics, but may use different components. I think he's a decent guy, so I bought from him. I'm happy with it, works as advertised.

Even with the clones "100,000 write limit" as the chart claims, at that rate if you played an average of 10 different games a day it would take over 27 years to reach that many write cycles. Of course its very unlikely that you do that daily for 27 years straight.

Krikzz literally sold out to the clone makers, he authorized it all. Not to mention that he has literally given up on providing any firmware updates for anything. I bought a real Turbo EverDrive because there's no clones of them, and I'm pretty disappointed that Krikzz has only provided 2 FW updates, it still doesn't even work with a 6-button pad. I bought a clone N8 for half the price of a real one and it kicks ass. It shipped with the (likely final), newest firmware, has the enhanced audio chip emulation; it's a nice piece of hardware for a fraction of the price. Not to mention that the Chinese use leaded solder so it will probably last longer than a real one.

I have an SD2SNES and I like it for what it does already. But I'm quietly optimistic that eventually some Verilog genius will get bored some holiday weekend and bang out a SuperFX core. It's like MAME, stuff is totally broken and unplayable for years and the forums imply no one could ever fix it. Then out of the blue someone just turns up with a working driver.
