Not at all. That "Cast Roll" on Mega Man X has the best guitar riffs ever. The hooks on that specific song is so beautiful, it's like it's ringing so beautifully because it doesn't want the game to end. But it does.

Chrono Trigger. Whenever I think of retro vidya music, it's Chrono Trigger or FF6.

By "OST" do you mean just one song or the entire soundtrack?

CAPCOM have GOAT music on lots of their work. Personally, I love Final Fight 3's ost as a whole. And have a better ending song than MMX, in my opinion (the weakest song in the game along with Sting Chameleon's).

Fucking what? the music is hands down the worst thing about mega man x, it;s fucking terrible. Not only is the sound font disgusting (all of capcom's 16bit console sound fonts were awful, especially the guitars), but the composition is obnoxious also.

The whole soundtrack is dark as fuck, then the ending comes with this soothing, peaceful serenade. It still has vestiges of the dark, ominous sound of the rest of the soundtrack, but it's the only one that sounds brightful, the morning actually came after the cursed night.
Still stands as one of my absolute favorite vidya endings.

For N64, probably my favorite is the Goemon stuff. Really stellar tracks, incredibly vibrant and rich sounding. They rock these shamisen out.
