Now that's a good OP pic, this setup is pretty rad.
Last thread's OP pic was barely relevent to the topic of the thread (1995 magazine cover with email and shit).
>>
>>3565885
Glad you like it. It's not my setup although I have been putting together a boxed collection of Wing Commander games over the past month or so. I've got the whole main series now but I'm still waiting on my copy of Wing Commander 2 to arrive.
>>
>>3565905
do you know the names of the joysticks shown in the picture?
>>
>>3565849
Why have you lost /ecg/ naming or whatever it was?
>>
>>3567026
These threads never had such thing to begin with.
>>
>>3566687
The one on the right is the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro, the others are Thrustmasters (the middle one is the F-22 Pro).
>>
>>3566687
Not OP.

I think one is a F-16 something stick (the one with gold label). The one to its left looks like a CH Fighterstick?
>>
>>3567390
Ahh Thrustmaster. Thought it was a CH
>>
>>3565905
You can't really not like a setup with such a good monitor displaying Wing Commander with a bunch of nice joysticks.

I know, I know. This is from 1996, but it runs on MS-DOS. It's an Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Blood & Magic RTS game. It is unopened and in pretty good condition. Does anyone know anything about this game? Is it rare? I just found it and I'm wondering if i found something special.
>>
>>3568979
As long as a PC game doesn't require Windows 95 or later game it's okay to discuss it here m8.
>>
>>3569030
It doesn't require Windows 65, just MS-DOS 5.0 or later. I picked it up for CDN $5 so I think I got a good deal at least.
>>
>>3569060
$5 or less is generally a great price to pay for a big box game.

I saw a big box copy of some Harley Davidson game from Infogrames at Goodwill today for $4 but I don't really have the shelf space to just collect big boxes for any game I come across. It generally has to be something of particular interest to me either on a personal level or because it's a historically significant piece.

In my case I love D&D so I'd say you made a great purchase there. I found a boxed copy of D&D 2nd Edition at Savers once and it was in pretty good shape. I only paid $2 for it. Unfortunately the price stickers won't come off without taking the print off with it, but I find something hillarious about seeing a $2 thrift store sticker on a game that goes for $80 on eBay.
>>
>>3569135
ha-ha yeah, I'm lucky this store bags and doesn't put stickers on these kind of things, or at least make then easy to remove stickers. this just stuck out to me, and I thought I was going to regret this later if I didn't go for it
>>
>>3569147
Normally Savers' stickers aren't too bad but in the case of the D&D game I bought, because it was really old and likely printed with cheap ink, even the weak adhesive peels it off so I opted to just leave them on.

I've been trying to google this for quite some time but everytime I go back to the subject I never find anything conclusive.

Does anyone have the full PC-9801 color palette?

Or does it not work like that and you can use any RGB color as long as it doesn't go over the 16 color count on screen?
>>
>>3569204
The PC-9801's full color palette (for VF and later models) is a 4096 color one, which means it uses your typical 12bit RGB color palette, which is equivalent to having you red, green and blue parameters being multiples of 16 minus 1 in 24bit true color mode.
>>
>>3569795
Ah so it's that much
I was under the impression they were working with way more limited numbers

Thanks a lot Anon

Well of course you still have to pick 16 of them, but yeah, that's a pretty large color spectrum.

I have money to waste again.

What should I get that's reasonably available in the EU?

Looking to experience something new.
>>
>>3570481
If you wanna try something new try emulating it to try it out before unless you wanna sell your stuff afterwared.
As for what was available? Check out stuff like the C64, Amstrad CPC, Speccy and MSX, see what kind of games they have and choose one that have stuff that might interest you.
>>
>>3570491
Non-gaming related hardware too.

I have a C64, but MSX might be worth a look, if I can find one.

More ideas?
>>
>>3570503
Well there are the ST and Amiga, but like I said, be sure to check out what's on these platforms via emulation before buying the stuff.
>>
>>3570481
C64 is absolutely ubiquitous around the world and has a thriving community. The ZX Spectrum is pretty cheap though and isn't a bad option at all.
>>
>>3571103
He said he had a C64 here >>3570503.
>>
How do I win at dnd? And which version is better, 5 or 8?
>>
>>3571061
Well, got a Amiga and ST since childhood, should have said that.

But a CPC or MSX2 sounds good, lots of stuff to mess around with, but sadly hard to find.

Specially things like >>>/g/57147940

How did it go?
>>
>>3566687

From left to right.

- Thrustmaster Top Gun (Aka FCS)
- Thrustmaster FLCS (Aka F-22 Pro)
- Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback (serial version)

The throttle on the left is the throttle that came with the FLCS. Both are exact replicas of the F-16C's HOTAS controls.

the powerbook brand predated the PPC architecture. apple switched to PPC when the 68k line started to languish against intel's offerings at the time

>>3574138
too much effort, looks slow as fuck. it's faster to browse through a serial console

>>3574901
games look kind of shit on a 1-bit screen. will have to save games for the 180c if/when i ever get that running. the bottom part of the screen isn't working, so it's either a loose ribbon cable or another pain in the ass ribbon cable repair
>>
>>3574901
>>3575052
Oh shit I posted Shadowrun but I meant Shadowgate.
But anyway, okay. Good luck fixing that other Powerbook.
>>
>>3575696
dear god, it's already a shit-show. the upper hinge screws on the 180c snapped out of their bosses on the lid, so they need to be epoxied back into place. additionally, the way it's built, the display ribbon is pinched up against the lid springs, and is probably why half the screen doesn't work. no wonder so few functional models are left
>>
The PC-88 version of Star Trader's soundtrack is kinda different from the x68k one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YT0AUPi26D4
There are a whole bunch of tracks that aren't present in the latter, and some of the ones that are in both versions still have some differences.
>>
>>3571181
What's good with CPCs is that even with a 464 you can play to floppy games thanks to the external floppy port being the same as what 5"1/4 drives had. I'm thinking about putting a 5"1/4 unit on my CPC setup (once I get to repair my monitor).
>>
>>3580285
Why though? No one have had anything to say in it for more than 24 hours. If it dies in a board as slow as /vr/, that means that it's not a useful thread anymore that it should have been left to die.
Hell, if you really wanted to bump it, you could have had bumped it with a bit of content at least.
>>
>>3581703
No one has posted anything that has to do with the topic of this thread for almost 48 hours, just let it die already instead of making useless bump posts with no content.

I have a feeling that goo gone would dissolve the ink. Maybe I can test it somewhere it won't be visible.
>>
>>3582839
If you leave it on too long without wiping it will darken the image slightly but it's not very noticable.
>>
>>3582665
okay
>>
The one thing that frustrates me about my C64 now is that I don't know where to put the thing to use it. I had the whole setup on the floor which was okay for testing but it's contributed considerably to the clutter in my space, and I don't want to keep my considerable time and money investment on the floor with the dog hair and other debris.
>>
>>3585348
What you need is a desk.
>>
>>3585373
Maybe the place to set up a desk for it is the basement. I have a walk out basement and it's cool, dry, and I just cleared out a corner.
