Absolutely, I love all 4 SFC Goemon games, the N64 side-scroller and the 3 2D Goemon on the PS1, even that one with Digimon-like characters.
Ah yes the only game that satisfies my otaku fantasies
Of course.
Anyone watched the Goemon anime? There is a TV series and an OVA.
The OVA was weird as fuck.
>>3561225
>Konami doesn't...
I'm kinda obsessed with the series. It's pathetic but Goemon games was one of the main reasons I learned Japanese. It's sad Konami made them into pachinko slaves. I read some time ago Nintendo is considering purchasing some Konami/Hudson IP. I don't know how accurate this info is though, but it was everywhere on some jap sites a while ago.
>>>3561274
Yeah.. those are kinda shitty to be honest, a pity.
As the OP, I have to say these games hitted me hard with nostalgia feel and made me love Konami games (up until they became villains and fucking against Kojima)
Since most games were Japan-only, I enjoyed Legend of the Mystical Ninja for SNES and the 2 N64 Mystical Ninja Games in my childhood, then growing up I discovered the emulators and the not released out of Japan games.
The anime was weird but a bit memorable.
Yet, I wish Konami could make a Ganbare Goemon open world modern console game, optionally having a Sonic Generations feel about time traveling where you could play as Goemon and New Age Goemon for the anniversary game.
But well, we only have the old games and the possibility of making fan games...
>>3561291
I actually thought they were gonna be worse.
The TV series I only watched a few episodes but it was entertaining and the characters seemed on point.
The OVA was maybe a bit better in terms of animation, but it was plain weird, and the NTR shit at the end turned me off. Omitsu is pure and she only has eyes for Goemon!
>>3561225
Of course, I'm planning to get Mr.Goemon forPS4 next week

>I read some time ago Nintendo is considering purchasing some Konami/Hudson IP
Pretty sure that Nintendo only wanted Momotaro Densetsu IP and they kinda got it (I think Nintendo got a deal similar to Fatal Frame)
>>3561305
>Omitsu is pure and she only has eyes for Goemon!
Bullshit, everyone knows the OTP is Goemon xEbi.
>>3561225
Can anyone explain two things to me:
1) why does Goemon shoot coins, of all things?
2) why does the guy to the right have the bandana tied under his nose?
>>3561362
2) Ebisumaru is somewhat based in the stereotype of how a Japanese thief is portrayed, but his character is based on Nezumi Kozo. His brother ObisumaruIs the literal representation of an eastern thief.
>>3561370
Hm, I see, thanks. Doesn't look too comfortable to wear
>2016
>Still no Mystical Ninja fan game to tribute the series
Fucking why?
>>3561362
>why does Goemon shoot coins, of all things?
Goemon's original arcade game introduced him as a Robin Hood-esque hero who punished corrupted people, then stole their gold and shared it among the poor at the end of every stage.
There's also a little bit of historical info about how during Goemon's era only the nobles could carry weapons and so thieves like Goemon and Ebisu adapted normal items into weapons, like sharpened coins or that bronze smoking pipe that could be used as an effective hitting club.
GG1/Legend of the Mystical Ninja is great and 2 is pretty good but 3 and 4 waste too much player time and lack the smart platforming of the first two games.
>>3561291
>I read some time ago Nintendo is considering purchasing some Konami/Hudson IP.
If this is true, I fucking hope Nintendo gives the Mario and Luigi Saga tratment to Goemon and Ebisu.
Imagine them on a RPG sharing Mario and Luigi's extremely fucked up and extremely funny gaming style, plus Goemon's own quirks like Impact, Ebisu's sexually fucked up gags and the laughing track.
>>3561225
The N64 games are some of my all time favorites, especially the second one.
Was the DS game any good?
>>3561284
>tfw a countdown appears on the Konami site for a new Goemon game
>tfw it's a fucking pachislot
>>3561291
God, I hope so.
Also, Ebisumaru being female in the early Famicom games makesBismaru and New Age Ebisuhave sense
>>3562339
I thought Ebisumaru being female was just a thing for Goemon 2.
Ebisumaru loves girls (which contrast with his kind of gay attitude) and is also based on Etsunobu Ebisu.
>>3561225
Ebisumaru should have remained as a cute girl cursed, too bad it was retconned.
It's funny as fuck and explains his flamboyant behavior.

Enjoy full version of Impact Theme...Fucking Beautiful

I'm sure /vr/ remembers this considering how often it's mentioned.
I remember. My sister and I would play the 2nd N64 title all the time when we were younger. Tried going back, but it hasn't aged very well.
>>3562508
Goemon 2 on N64 is basically like the 2D Goemon games with polygon graphics. What about it hasn't "aged" well?
I even think the 3D Goemon still is great and fun, but I could understand how some people might have trouble getting into it because of the camera, but the 2nd one is as playable as the SNES titles are.
>>3561225
I'll never forget you ;_;
>>3562648
What did Mr.Goemon smoke out of his pipe? I mean Goe-MON is obviously a Jamaican name.
>>3562543
My taste have just changed since then. The last time I tried playing the game was a year or so ago and it just couldn't keep my interest. The thread is compelling me to give it another shot though.
>>3562652
DUDE.
Most likely he's smoking kizami,
say something nice to this mermaid
>>3562680
ur nice bae
>>3562680
I love you Yae.
>>3562668
why do japanese hate weed so much?
>>3562763
Do they? I know Japan has its own cannabis history.
Psilocybin shrooms were legal until 2002 (the japanese government was persuaded into forbidding them due to the Korea/Japan World Cup)
>>3562780
No wonder their culture is going to shit. They need to start getting daily doses again like in the 70s. I guess they still chain smoke cigs but I think some lsd would help their creativity come back.
>>3562648
Would be more amusing if he drew him as new age goemon.Because his drawing would be shit
>>3562780
Source on this pic? It's lovely.
>>3563521
no I think the youth are all becoming huge pussies just like usa. Nobody takes creative risks anymore. Konami cant take any risks anymore and only care about not losing money. Im not saying weed will fix that. In fact it would probably just make them lazy fatasses.

Damn.

I remember Yae being the best girl.
>>3567172
Yae is cool, but make no mistake, best girl is Omitsu.
>>3561225
Goemon and Samurai Warriors are the series that turned me into an Edoboo.
>>3567172
>>3567182
Both so, so wrong.
>>3567305
She should have been playable.
>>3561225
Definitely. Legend of the Mystical Ninja was one of the most formative game experiences I had as a kid. I like every one of the goemon games I've played on a Nintendo console, with the exception of 4 on snes just because it's too rpg heavy and I don't speak moon.
Lotmn, ganbare goemon 2, and goemons great adventure are my favorites
I'm still mad that the theme songs were cut from the NA version of Goemon's Great Adventure. I think Konami decided that it was too wacky for a more general audience. But when you remove things from a niche game for a shot at mass appeal, you only serve to fuck what few fans you already had.
>>3561225
Legend of the Mystical Ninja was probably my first co-op game that I played and I fell in love from the get-go. The music and the overall wackiness was great.
>>3567452
Yeah, especially because the songs were left intact on the first game, why would they remove them from the second?
As you say, maybe they thought removing the "wacky japanese songs" would make it more appealing to western audiences, but at the same time it's a stupid decision given how the whole game is japanese as fuck.
I think they also removed them from the PAL release.
At least we can watch them on youtube now.

>>3561225
The first game related to Goemon that I played was Mystical Ninja - Starring Goemon for the N64. It's one of my all time favourite N64 platformers. I really should check out the other games of that franchise.
I wish we'd get more goemon.
My humble Goemon collection. I've yet to find a copy of MN2/GGA in the wild for a decent price but that's my favourite of the series.Fuck buying snes games at the minute, those prices.
>>3570848
Cool collection, I'd like to have that DVD set.. is it the complete series?
Also albeit not retro, I'm jelly of your Konami krazy racers.
Ganbare Goemon 64 was great, I beat that game so many times as a kid, the OST was amazing.
I played all the first ones in emulators but got frustrated since they were in Japanese and I didn't know what to do... Should I try them out now that I know some japanese?
