Nobody making these OPs checks their links. Or the posts in every thread.

I think the Amazing Earl stuff (most of which is shit anyway) and the RCT1 recreations are also in some other pack already.

Complaining about OPs is a tradition as old as 4chan but this is starting to get silly. Also,
>no image for second post

>most of which is shit anyway
While most is shit, some is great.
>>
>>3559647
Which AE ones do you like? Only the ice rink, skateboards, swimming pool and water slide seem to be worth mentioning. Wouldn't call them great though.

The others are lots of ugly and boring reskins of twist, swinging ship and enterprise with no mechanical difference. And a woodie where guests raise their arms if you pixel peep. Yay!
>>
>>3559749
The Rounded Up (Enterprise), Double Swinging Inverter (ship), Spinning Cups (Twist) are all great. And the Ripsaw is fine I guess.

Find the excitement rating and round down to the nearest tenth. Keep lowering/raising the price if nobody wants to come or the lines are always full.

Just a question. Why are we allowed to talk about RCT2 on /vr/ ? I have seen mod action on pc games from 01 before, RCT2 was 02.

I played lots of RCT too. It isn't that I dislike it, it is that I am noticing some discrepancies with rule enforcement.
>>
>>3560275
I think the mods look the other way for it because the game is similar enough to its predecessor that distinguishing the two is just splitting hairs. The main differences are graphical and there's a few gameplay tweaks but other than that the games play quite similarly.

RCT2 feels less like a sequel and more like an expansion + level editor. If RCT2 was more like RCT3 then it probably wouldn't be allowed here.
>>
>>3560275
It's a shared thread and RCT1 was 1999, RCT2 is very similar and would you not call RCT2 a retro game? It was talked over with the mods ages ago and it was decided we could/should stay.

>implying that is long
Part realism but mostly because I think it looks good. I don't think the queue will ever fill up, there's not that many peeps in the park and large amount of paths, but I guess it'd be around 10 min if it did.
>>
>>3560361
>>3560390
>>3560463
The coaster and the entrance buildings are looking nice.
The only complains I can think of (and i'm not even sure if they are based on realism, or not enough information about real coasters on my part) would be:

>Having the Corkscrew before the Looping
Not sure why, but I'm under the impression that Loopings are usually used at the beginning, where the coaster still has lots of energy, while Corkscrews appear later.

>The Corkscrew going over the track at the end
I think it looks really nice, but again, I have the feeling it should go the oder way around... as in Corkscrew, turn, and pass under the Corkscrew.

If anyone knowing more about realistic coasters could shed some light into this, I'd be happy.
>>
>>3560482
As for corkscrew vs loop in the beginning, you're right. But there are a few exceptions, I took the element from a real coaster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NQq-CtYtu0
>>
>>3560497
Can't argue with that.

Thanks, that's one thing out of my mind.
>>
>>3560482
It does make sense that you wouldn't want to go through a corkscrew very fast, but for a loop that's no problem.
>>
>>3560351
I doubt it was talked over with the mods. The phrasing of that implies a complete opposite way moderation works on 4chan.

RCT2 is retro but Warcraft 3 isn't by VR standards. The issue is how defended VR is about 5thgen+DC but how lax it is about PC cutoff dates.
>>
>>3560463
>muh realism
You themed that nicely, but it wouldn't look any worse if you slashed about ten superfluous queue tiles. Nevermind if that coaster has high enough throughput to keep waiting times below 8 minutes even on a full queue.

It's one of the best ways to avoid overcrowding. With TVs and entertainers, they never get mad.
>>
>>3560541
That's a lot of food stalls for such a small park.
>>
>>3560614
It's an American park
>>
>>3560614
What would be the ideal ratio of food stalls to guests anyway?

And do guests even care about the type of food or drink served to begin with?
>>
>>3560621
with only one burger shop? I think not
>>
>>3560607
Can't say that's true. Also, tons of TVs make your queue look like shit and throws realism out of the window as well.

>>3560626
If you only build one type of food stalls you'll soon enough get the worst food award.

Supposedly some food is salty and makes people more thirsty than others. Don't know what sweetness is supposed to do. Maybe that's just flavor text with no in-game consequence though.
>>
>>3560453
Because you want the queue to be part of the attraction.
>>
>>3559371
What's going on the numbers here, how does this happen?
>>
>>3561002
Overflow. The numbers got so high that they wrapped around and came back up from the bottom. Apparently the boundaries for the labels (low, medium, high, very high, extreme, ultra-extreme) were apparently not properly checked so when the number overflowed the labels just kept going through the list of text to the next string it could find.

>>3561365
Yeah I lifted that one from an image a couple threads back. wanted to practice scenery on something decent after not playing this game in like 5 years or so. Ty if that was you
>>
>>3561357
Since you called it your autismo park I'll be extra hard on you in my critique. Your scenery work is fine but the beginning of that coaster needs work, if you want to twist the first drop, do it at the top and don't follow up with a turn at the very bottom. And if you're going for some realism, extend the break run. And remove shrubs from beneath the supports, looks weird when they do not touch the ground.

>>3561359
You should build some more fences I guess, theoretically guests could walk onto the railroad or onto the coaster (left of the queue start).

>>3561361
The bridge is cool. Not a fan of the coaster, split lift hill, to few air time hills and to much helixes. Make it more of an out-and-back design, hills going out, some twisty twisty and then hills going back over the river.

>>3561376
This is a really cool coaster. Give it a proper break run tho. That is a reeeeeally long drop for a log flume, especially if that's a turn directly after the drop, at the edge of the image.

If you use a 64bit OS you need to install 32bit system packages. OpenRCT2 still relies on the original 32bit code to run 100%. The 64bit builds have gotten so far recently that you can actually play it pretty reasonably well but some rides will not be rendered because the 64bit build does not have the ability to use the original 32bit code. 64bit builds are probably like 97% complete.

There wouldn't be any purpose. I think Chris Sawyer wrote the game in assembly in the first place because he was already very familiar with it and he didn't mind. If he wrote the game today he'd probably write it in C/C++ just so he could port it to platforms other than windows x86. The mobile port of RCT2 is supposed to be a rewrite in C apparently.

You mean Fun Fortress and Good Knight Park? Nigga I did the best I could with what was available (and no, I refuse to use custom objects). I did recently update Good Knight Park with the terrain replaced by walls if you haven't redownloaded it in the last year. I can't do the same with Fun Fortress because there's no brick pattern base block (walls clip through the terrain, base blocks don't).

>>
>>3566663
Some of those would be better recreations if you built them from the ground up in RCT2 style, i.e. as walls rather than landscaping. Though that doesn't allow for nice-looking tunnels.

Some other levels also have such "buildings", e.g. the ghost train in Haunted Harbour.

If OpenRCT2 re-adds the RCT roof/wall stuff to the landscaping tool, you could also go on about more proper recreations.

You can either "bury" the walls or disable clearance checks. But as said, that doesn't work with tunnels. And some roofs would also require custom scenery objects because RCT2 lacks a lot of those.

They look great and are both easy and fun to design. If I'm looking on my own saved designs I have 31 woodies compared to 27 B&Ms (Dive Machines, Inverted and all 4 twisters combined). Also there's great variation of IRL woodies so there's many different kinds to take inspiration from.

I found a set of tile paths from RCT1, so if I decide to incorporate these into the remakes, and since I can't select all of them, would it be preferable to just select the ones the scenario has placed on the map, or select all the the ones with the default wooden supports since RCT1 had all of them available at once? I honestly don't know if there is a secret, with the guaranteed high average speed and unlikeliness for high G's good coasters should basically build themselves. My coaster get naturally high stats from path interaction, water and lots of scenery. Like with other rides some tunnels and interaction with other rides would have brought it even higher. Just discovered that I can hide objects with OpenRCT's tile inspector.

What can I do to improve my mini golf for maximum C O M F Y ?
>>
>>3574978
make the river more organic with some rocks, bullrushes, a wide spot or two.
Maybe add a hole that is undercover and perhaps 1 or 2 covered seating areas along your mini golf track (add a path under the mini golf with zero clearance, plop a bench down and hide the path with the tile inspector)
Make the raised landscape for the bridges and that one mini golf hole have a wood texture. Also (if you have the scenery) lower the creek by a half/quarter tile to give it a little bank. it would flood the path and mini golf and looks very unnatural

This is a very comfy area, anon. I love it
>>

I agree with Shnupz, some covered areas would probably be nice.

>>3575017

The problem with the seating is that the benches are linked to the path, so when the path is hidden so are the benches. you can also import sv4 files into openrct. The original diamond heights can be fully imported and played without issue iirc. What are the best mods for scenery? I want some good stuff for making nice buildings.

Pic related was the best I could do in openRCT2 do without downloading any mods.
>>
>>3581294
Most benches of custom scenery are built expecting full autism because it is required to build one. Hence, balancing the useful custom stuff with vanilla convenience is rather difficult. If you don't have some principles down, CSO won't take you that much farther.

For your example, try not to make large buildings. Theyre very difficult to make not look samey like a poorly tiled texture does. With that thought, you should also try break up shapes and materials as much as possible, whether by staggering the faces of the building or ornamenting it. You're alluding to much of this but it isnt as effective as it should be because the building is shittingly huge.
>>
>>3581307
It is ridiculously huge. I didn't plan it that way, but at some point I just went with it.

I'm afraid I don't fully understand your advice. You're saying I should learn the basic principles of making buildings before moving onto CSO?

Also, what do you mean when you say "benches of custom scenery"? Why is full autism required to build one?
>>
>>3581374
I'm saying CSO won't necessarily help if you don't know how to make good buildings to begin with.

Custom scenery is usually catalogued into a workbench in which to use it. Making such a bench entails selecting scenery from a HUGE fucking list, usually manually picking almost everything rather than just checking groups of objects. I've tried to build a bench using some CSO without sacrificing too much of the vanilla stuff and it gets incredibly tedious really fast, and I havent even brought up the actual making of the scenery files.
>>
>>3581402
As for the autism in using them, they will often not have any full tile base blocks, instead opting for quarter tiles to allow finer crafting of structures while keeping under the object limit. If you want a platform, you have to place a fuckton of quarter tiles which is just shitty. There's more shit like that too.

>>3582169
>>3582183
I liked playing Whispering Cliffs. The limited space forces you to be economical with it.

Also, the park value objective varies extremely between RCT1 and the recreations because it's calculated differently. But of course it isn't very hard, being a first scenario.
>>
>>3582324
Speaking of which, when I was making them, I just added an extra zero. Is there a known algorithm I can reference comparing the games' differences in park value calculation so I can make them more challenging? I was able to that with loan interest rates just by comparing the monthly interest in the Finances window.
>>
I have a bad habit of crowding everything in the park together as much as I can. How bad is this for the park rating?

They don't have a copyright for the color, but probably a trademark or similar on it. So if you try to register your own logo in the same color, it will be denied. If you use it commercially (especially in the same sector), you can be sued.

Deutsche Telekom (which more of you might know for their T-Mobile subsidiary) also have protection for their specific shade of magenta.

The focus wasn't to be a good ride, it was to be a compact one. Putting brakes at the end just lowers the excitement slightly.

Made a little modification, at least i'll be able to charge more for it now
>>
>>3584143
I guess crashing into the station at mach 5 is not an issue when you only have one train.
>>
>>3584149
If i put brakes at the end with this modified track, the excitement goes up 0.01, but the ride is longer. Intensity isn't affected at all. Normally I try to make sure trains enter the station at 29mph or lower, but it's just one train, it can't crash.

Either way, it does its job, which is to attract guests and give me one ride that nets some profit.

pls respond

Also when it comes time to make a new thread, whoever does so, remove the info about how many parks and tracks are in the vpack, because this changes constantly and nobody updates it. The links to the Mr Bones save (it's in the vpack), the UCES Setup (already available on mediafire with everything extracted), and galax.moe (outdated and redundant) should also be removed.

Do you know about the OG Coney Island Steeplechase? It opened around the turn of the century, as the centerpiece of "Steeplechase Park". 8 lanes (!) racing around an oval track the encircled a giant funhouse building. After the ride, you would exit through the funhouse, filled with all manner of "never possible today" tricks and stunts.
>>
>>3584364
>>3584449
This isn't a problem if you use that option in OpenRCT2 to fuse all Car Ride/Boat Hire/Ghost Train/any rides that should just be alternate vehicle options into one right?

>Blackpool has a 3 track single rider one that is supposedly terrifying as it feels like you'll fall off.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2FDN6Go73I

Doesn't seem very intense but the fact that it's like 15+ feet off the ground is probably uncomfortable for some.

For a new player, I'm fucking proud of the design.
I'd ride this. I'd ride this all day.
>>
>>3584806

design looks great but bank those last few turns
>>
>>3584820
They are banked, and that last one into the station comes after a set of brakes
>>
>>3584826

Oh, so it does. Just so you know, your intensity is that high because of how fast the train goes through those inversions.
>>
>>3584806
>stand up coaster

Those are pretty fucking trash. That being said, make it go a bit slower through the inversions. That loop at the beginning looks like it'd break my legs. Don't expect Stand-Ups to be anything more than mediocre, though, you have to work magic to get them to break 7
>>
Do on-ride photo sections effect stats at all?
>>
>>3584364
You forgot
>another variant of the B&M Steel Twister

>>3584541
That only affects the build window and switching train types on a ride, but not research.

It also lets you build elements only allowed on one subtype for everything, such as steep slopes and log bumps on any car ride rather than just 4x4 trucks (or maybe that's for OpenRCT2 in general)

>>3585153
If you count profitability as a stat… maybe it raises excitement by a bit, but I never tested that. I just build them whenever possible.
>>
>>3585153
I believe its strictly a financial addition
>>
>>3585159
What's the difference between Steel Twister and Twister?
>>
>>3585297
With Select trains by ride type (i.e. RCT1 behavior), it's the generic term for all of them. In RCT2, it's the one with Hyper Twister Trains.

Hyper Twister Trains are normally incompatible with launched lift hills (but can use those anyway) and inversions.

First of many "dead" legs. They stay in place and help bear the massive weight. Hydraulic jack visible in the background. You go up on the hydraulics and put the leg in place once the ride is level.

IIRC there's a lap belt, but it was rather loose fitting for me and I always felt like I was going to fall off if I wasn't actively gripping my horse with my knees. It might genuinely be the scariest coaster I've ever ridden, it's fucking amazing.
