How much would you pay for an N64? I can't seem to find any for less than $60-70 without it missing something necessary for operation.
>>
>>3549831
$40, that's what I paid for mine including all necessary hookups and controller in 2011.

Today I wouldn't buy one.
>>
>>3549838
Fug.
>>
Have you looked at Goodwills?. When they do get a hold of them they mark them at around $25 or so.
>>
Buy a japanese one on Ebay
>>
>>3549831
I wouldn't pay anything for one.
>>
>>3549838
This, I'm a cheapass who's glad he bought his shit years ago.

Though at the same time I own mine because it was bought for me as a birthday present back when they were new and sold in stores, so don't listen to this hypocrite.

You could buy a 'broken' one on ebay and fix it, often times the part that's broken is trivial and the user just doesn't know how to fix it or doesn't want to expend the effort.
>>
Eight bucks but not ten
>>
>>3549831
Unless it's been modded for RGB or HDMI output I wouldn't pay a single penny for one.
>>
>>3549831
I went to a retro store and asked if they had one in stock. They said if I bought $20 in shit I could have it. I bought a couple games and a controller and I got the system for free.
>>
Just noticed OP's pic is a render and not an actual pic.

I'd say, if the system is in good shape, with all the cords and 1 controller, something like $50 would be a fair price.
N64s are very sturdy and durable, so you won't likely have any issues in the future, these things were still made with nintendium (my N64 once fell from a height of 2 meters and works like a charm)
>>
>>3549838
Same. Glad I paid $30 before this bullshit. Millions of consoles sold, barely 20 years old and you expect me to pay $70 for one? Eat my asshole.

Likewise for those hiked Pokemon carts (some are even shameless repros asking $20-30).
>>
>>3549831
I wouldn't pay more then 30 dollars for an N64 with controllers in decent shape. the n64 wasn't that great of a console despite being the one I grew up on.

>I can't seem to find any for less than $60-70 without it missing something necessary for operation.

god retro gaming got expensive. I wasn't like this eight years ago
>>
>>3550372
*it wasn't like this
>>
>>3550372

The N64 emulates like shit though, and the rest is your opinion, some people love the N64.
If you want a genuine experience you need a N64 and an Ever Drive. The main problem of playing N64 isn't the price of the console, but the price of the games.
Also an Everdrive lets you play fan translations.
>>
>>3550135
Is the difference in quality that noticeable? Would there be a difference between RGB and HDMI?
>>
>>3549831
Bought an N64 a week ago for 300$ CAD

It's a matter of your display. The RGB is "purer" but it probably wouldn't look as good on an HDTV without a $350 framemeister. The HDMI N64 has a decent upscaler/line doubler built in but then it's useless for CRTs.

>>3551117
That's a pretty nice little package but yes. Should have just gotten an Everdrive.
>>
>>3549831
Honestly the N64 is the one console you can find on craigslist for cheap. I always see them for like $25-$40.

Dude, no.
>>
>>3551117
I'd say you got a good deal.
>>
>>3549831
Use roms
Literally no reason to bust out all that shit and use the shitty controller when you can just play N64 roms in higher quality with an Xbox controller.
>>
>>3551337

>playing N64 games with an Xbox controller stick full of dead zones
>emulating N64 at all

No. N64 and an Everdrive.
>>
>>3551117
Fucking ripped off
>>
>>3551227

This.

I've found consoles at Goodwill/Savers/Salvation Army but its always a fluke and I got lucky. What I DO find is plenty of bottom tier PSX and CD-ROM games mixed into the cd racks.

I barely play the damn thing but what a deal. I cringe at the prices I see for them at mom and pop game shops.

kys moron

i buoght an n64 for $30 and 2 controllers and 5 games in fucking 2003

git gud

(yard sale)
>>
>>3551117
As a bundle you got ripped but you did get some good games so I'm sure you're happy right now which is all that matters.
>>
>>3551117

It actually greatly depends on if the games are CIB or loose.

If CIB, you got a good deal.
If not, you still got a decent lot worth the money, only meh games there are Gex, NHL and Rainbow Six.
>>
In my experience, it's pretty easy to get them with a decent controller and all hookups for $35 or less even today. Craigslist is a great source.
>>
>>3549831
Got Japanese one from YJA for 700 yen (7 dollars). Controller, 3rd party power unit, amp and resistors for RGB mod and SCART cable were ~20-25 dollars.
You can probably find better bundle locally if this console was popular in your country.
I wouldn't pay more than that because game library isn't that interesting to me.

>>3551430

>>
>>3549831
Copped mine back when I was a kid at a yard sale for $25 CAD. It had pretty much all the essential games and 2 controllers. Pretty good cop, retro gaming wasn't as big back then but then again I picked up a SNES and Super Mario World over the summer for $30. Finding a deal is all about looking for a low information market, find someone who doesn't know the value of what their selling. Ebay, specialist gaming stores and craigslist are all high information markets, people know the value of what their selling.
>>
If I didn't still have my original system, I wouldn't even bother. N64 was my last "new" console and I stuck with it specifically because I could buy games for so cheap in the early 00s. The prices now are way too high for me, systems and games.
>>
I paid $25 for it back in 2002/2003

no regrets
>>
>>3549831
I bought mine for $30. Came with all the necessary cables, an expansion pak, two controllers, and a few games. If you're paying over $50 for an N64, you're getting ripped off.
>>
No more than 20 bucks. I've got three working ones just sitting in my closet.
>>
>>3551346
I found FFIX black label on the CD shelf a few months ago.

It is a matter of luck though, this shit disappears quickly. You have to keep checking back constantly.
>>
>>3552056
I'll buy one from you for no more than 20 bucks.
>>
>>3549831
Paid 100 dollars Canadian for mine, but it came with memory cards, 2 controllers, and the box..
>>
>>3552309
did it happen to have all the CDs?
>>
>>3554945

>>
>>3552056
You selling?
>>
>>3549838
I bought a jungle green 64 for $80 on eBay. It came with the jungle green controller, a blue controller, a third party controller, two ram packs, jumper pak, rumble pack, donkey kong 64, and some wrestling game. Maybe something else too. I ended up selling everything but the 64 and essentially paid nothing for it once I sold all those accessories.
>>
>>3557785
God damn.
>>
>>3549831
Ask around your family, friends, or even friends' families or families' friends. I've been able to score free shit like n64s and SNESes within the last 3 years just because they would let me rummage around their old messy houses. Beats the hell out of breaking bank, and the worse they'll say is "no".
You'd be surprised what people have stuffed away in closets and attics and shit.
>>
>>3558697
Eh I still shelled out top dollar for my everdrive. But that's totally worth it.
>>
>>3549831
I think I paid around $40 for an atomic green one a few years ago. Anything higher for a basic black one seems ridiculous.
>>
>>3555498
It actually did. I made sure before buying it.
>>
>>3551430
>2003
Things were different then, my friend. Back then nobody cared about old consoles so you could get them for really cheap.

Don't judge people when they have to pay more today, people don't have a choice. Especially on the sites you mentioned.
>>
>>3549831
$5. That's what I've paid for the five I have now so don't see any reason to pay any more for another. Not exactly sure how you knowing what I'd pay is going to do anything for you.
>>
>>3560510
I'll buy one from you for $10.
>>
>>3549831
I bought an N64 2 weeks ago

300 Canadian sheks for:

Black console
Grey controller x 2
Expansion pak
Mario kart
zelda ocarina of time
excitebike 64
smash bros
goldeneye
+9 other games worth about 10-15 each

Whether I got ripped off or not Im happy with it, it was in very good condition
>>
>>3563482
You got a steal Anyone who says you got ripped off is retarded and/or a poorfag.
>>
>>3563482
Saying you got 9 other games valued at 10-15 doesn't really mean much because you could probably find those same games for less.

$223 USD isn't bad for all the games you got I guess. But it's way beyond what I'd spend.

I bought mine for £30 two years ago, way cheaper than the other two shops close by.

I payed for it then looked at it in front of the staff.
Pulled open the expansion pak and it was in there already.
"Oh cool, theres an expansion pak in here. These things are usually like £30 on their own!" (This is true over here)

I thanked them and left. Kek.

>taking shit this literally

I'm sorry to hear about your condition.

My parents paid $120 dollars for it back in '99 so if you have never owned one I'd say anything lower than that is a steal

Cool. Boxed? I always loved the shit out of the N64's japanese box art.
I remember seeing it at a game store around july/august of '96 and freaking out.

Yep. I could supply pics if I bothered to get it from behind my Wii U, Dreamcast, PSP and Wii U Pro Controller boxes that I store at the healthy height of four meters.
