Does it deserve the praise it receives? Or is it an overrated

It's overrated by some, underrated by others.

People just can't seem to agree on Ikaruga, it's one of those "love it or hate it" games.

I personally think it's okay, liked Radiant Silvergun better.

Also "overrated" should get an autoban filter.

This, I can agree with, if only because the boss designs were far superior to Ikaruga's (as most of them were designed by NAMI the Mighty).

I liked it, but I'm not really big on shooters so my opinion probably doesn't matter.

I never understand why some games get more attention than others. Ikaruga is pretty amazing for what it is but everyone has a different take on everything.

I used to consider Ikaruga my favorite game but I don't really find the rigid puzzle-style gameplay as fun as regular ol' danmaku nowadays. The art direction and music are fantastic though, and some of the bosses are pretty cool.

The only reason people bitch about it is because it became too popular.

Radiant Silvergun is slow and boring as shit; great graphics for a Saturn game though.
